If I didn't already have a massive chopper, I might be tempted by this.

It's not about the size, it's how you swing it that counts

Heat for the price, but don't expect to become a lumberjack with this, i found chopping up an old chest of drawers hard enough.

You didn't have the lumberjack shirt, it makes all the difference.

B&Q - the biggest UK DIY retailer - one of the worst websites ever made.

Don't worry about people becoming lumberjacks - this is ideal for cheap serial killers. Chop and throw

Ordered 5 - but doubt they'll be available. Will take my own to show my displeasure just in case!

Genuine question, who needs an axe nowadays?

You have never lived - or nearly died. Great tools. Keep one under my drivers seat with a bit of kindle to explain away.

Seriously though - they are great for chopping up bones etc

Bought.
Now, does anyone know where I can get duct tapes for cheap as well?
Also, ropes.
Oh and a shovel too..

Rick Grimes loves his.

This trumps my deal

I don't but darn... it was in stock & I'll collect it tomorrow.
Thanx for the share Op

I think they are kind of like baseball bats. I see lots of them sold but no one ever plays baseball.

"hand axe" - a.k.a. hatchet.

Plenty of people still have open fires, especially us country mice. A small hand axe is great for chopping firewood into kindling. I use a big 'un for splitting logs into firewood.

Aaaaaahh thanks op. Very useful. I need to bury the hatchet with the ex girlfriend.

My girlfriend will love this, says she needs one to go with the plastic bags, sleeping pills and shovel...says we'll have a special night tonight....woohoo, wonder what she's doing to me.

You can get these at Selco. (They also do Visqueen)

690g? Sounds very lightweight. Can't imagine it being up to much except the slimmest of kindling.

Oh, now there's a surprise - OOS

1 review on the b&q site- not looking worthwhile even at 1.50...

I have bought a couple of Mac Allister tool recently. Been pretty below par, wont be getting any more. Can't sqoubble at £1.50 though, just dont expect it to be that good.

not a big surprise, it was obviously axed.

Cheers!!

I personally wouldn't bother with a store bought axe,the balance is usually awful and they don't hold an edge for more than one or two 'chops'.
If you really need a good axe,and are prepared to pay for the real deal,go for a new Gransfors Bruk,or do what I did,get a second hand Elwell head, recondition it,and put a Gransfors Bruk shaft on it,razor sharp, can be used all day,and all it needs is a light strop to bring it back to razor sharp again.
As it is made from carbon steel, dont forget to clean it after every use,and spray it with WD40 to keep the rust at bay!.
After the initial reconditioning, treat yourself to a Fallkniven DC4 to keep it in tip top condition, and a leather strop to keep the shaving sharp edge.

OOS everywhere I looked. no surprises there. Every time I go in a B&Q it seems to be full of stuff, but never has what you want. Its stock checker cannot be relied upon, and its website won't accept payments via mobile saying upgrade your browser.

Heat added

Too big for EDC.

Wild goose chase, very few shops still stock them

Exactly this, you would waste more energy trying to swing it hard enough to do any real impact.
Spend a few quid more and get a cheap one which is much heavier. Aldi do them for a fiver every so often, or a tenner for a longer handled version

It's in stock at my local store, but the website falls over when I try to order it. Stoopid website.

Oos everywhere

Ordered and paid for the 800g one from my local as it claimed it was in stock. Have since received an email thanking ME for cancelling my order!! Sums up B&Q sh*t stock control and ordering system....

I always got wood... so heat!
