Mac Book Pro Retina with just under £300 of the normal price.

I can't find it cheaper. Even the Apple refurb's aren't as low as this price.

Seems like a reasonable price for a reasonable spec - I must add, the new model due soon though.

It is flash drive/SSD drive with is a lot faster than your standard hard drive. It is a brilliant piece of kit if you know how to use it.Yes new version is expected in June with definite up grade on design & processor but keep in mind that will be atleast 300£ expensive.

I've been a mac fan for donkeys years, but even I'll agree this is too much nowadays. With the price of computing going lower and lower, £1300 for a computer is ridiculous.

Reportedly Apple saved over $165 000 000 000 (165 billions USD) in cash between 2004-2014 , someone had to top up the pile :).

Apple stuff is very good but I will rather get 80% of Apple's quality for 40% money thus buy something not based on iOS. If you are in a position that you don't have to check content of your wallet Apple is your friend, otherwise there are other high quality items offering far superior value for money

Redmond Pie are reporting a new version on Wednesday ( redmondpie.com/15-…ay/ ) And yes, I appreciate that it is an SSD and the way it is installed in the Macbook Pro makes it faster than others and I do know "how to use it" - however it is also not upgradeable and I'd want at least 500Gb for any "Pro" laptop which, lets face it, would cost about 10% of the money you're being asked to cough up.

Is this likely to be a grey import at this price? and a USA model?

I'm interested in how these companies manage to avoid VAT when importing are they basically smuggling?

Quality is going down. My first MacBook Pro lasted 7 years, second one a day short of 3 years and current one died after 15 months!!

Yes. You can always recognise grey imports, they are about 15%-20% cheaper than UK retailers.

Bought one of these few weeks ago.. I love it. Yes it's a US import but you save £300, and you still get in within a week or two. New model is coming out soon will likely have force touch and a 5th gen CPU which draws less power and has likely some newer features but I don't think core speed is improved on (at least not significantly). This cpu will still be amazing for a few years, benches over 9000 on pass mark. If money isn't an issue wait, bit if you want a deal this is a good option!
