Ive been trying to find out if there is any info on a possible release of iLife 10 but I can find very little information. It seems apple are following an 18month release schedule for there iLife/iWork suites. So that would leave us with a possible release of the new software around July time. Although being Apple they can and probably will surprise us! But for this price im seriously considering buying this now!

office 2010

This is a BARGAIN.

Just need cheap 'official' Applecare !!!

Very unlikely imo. The releases tend to be in January with the one exception being the 08 products. It may seem unfrequent, but compared to microsofts 4 year cycle... If you're in the market for this, then definitely now is the time to buy whilst this deal is on. It'll definitely be another year until ilife/iwork '11

BTW, I absolutely love iwork. Office 2008 is hell to work with and I think microsoft went out of its way to persuade mac users that windows + office 2007 is best for office work.

I read that iWork 2009 and iLife 2009 had been rebranded to lose the 2009 reference, that way people buying in 2010 wouldn't feel that it was so old (although it isn;t).

If this is the 2009 packaged software it may account for the discount?

This is a hot deal IMO

couple of questions:

1. If I got a dell mini 10v with a portable cd drive could I install this?
2. Any way you can bung this on a USB drive and install it like that?
3. Are they all on one CD or a collection?

Cheers

Yeah it has been rebranded! Which does make it seem like no update until nearer the end of the year! But your right this is probably branded 09. I can't decide if I should buy it yet or not. I don't really need it until I go back to college in september when iWork will come in handy!!

Yep I expect so. Some people need a life!!

Good deal. But if you want older software i.e. Office 2004, Adobe CS2/3 to work stay away.

They are exactly that "old software". If you upgrade to Office 2008 and CS4 then you'll have no problems! To get the best performance you should always try to upgrade your software anyway.

Great deal.

Ilife 09 is good. Hackintosh PC here - Hot.

I've been a bit put off upgrading to SL due to the issues it's had. Can anybody confirm if everything's been ironed out?

The only bugs I've observed are with other applications. Other than that, it is as bug-free as could be expected. Snowchecker is a worthwhile app to download to check your apps will run fine. snowleopard.wikidot.com/sno…ker

wait ... am i getting confused? :x

This is not the retail pack (Full o/s) only the upgrade s/w. Not bad for £90. Amazon do us proud.

These are all full retail versions. Update disks are only available from Apple for a brief period with qualifying hardware and not available from retail channels.

Heads up for anyone upgrading from Tiger, the Mac Box Set doesn't seem to be the only way to upgrade to Snow Leopard.

Apparently the Leopard--->Snow Leopard upgrade disc works as a full install disc, meaning if you have no need for iWork or iLife you can save almost £70 - the Snow Leopard disc alone is £22.75 on Amazon (amazon.co.uk/Mac…P8/)

Sorry I'm a bit confused! I'm currently using Mac OS X 10.4.11 and would like to upgrade to a newer operating system. Is this any good to me? If not are there any suggestions what i should purchase?

First thing is do you have a mac with an Intel chip?

If you do then this would be great if you want to upgrade your OS and upgrade to iLife 09/iWork 09. If you just want to upgrade from Tiger and keep your old iLife suite then you should purchase the Snow Leopard upgrade disk

hotukdeals.com/ite…070

If it was me I would buy this and upgrade everything at the same time. Its an extra £70 over the Snow Leopard disk but you will get the latest software with alot more features.

Heres a good guide on how to install Snow Leopard,

Think so! My processor is a 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, I'm assuming this means it has an Intel chip?

It does indeed, so you should be covered dependent on which option you go for.

BTW how much RAM and hard disk space do you have?

Would also suggest that you take at least a couple of backups (onto external storage) before you kick off the upgrade process - also double-check that your existing applications are Snow Leopard compatible, as that was an issue flagged up on the deal thread just for Snow Leopard.

Cheers, Scotty Boy![/FONT]

Aye definitely, I had to make a backup, bought the installation disc alone and tried to install on top of Tiger 10.4.11 but it wanted me to delete everything/repartition my hard drive before it would begin. Remember to update Snow Leopard once it's installed too to maximise compatibility (choose the 'combo' update rather than the standard one) - after doing that I reinstalled my old MS Office 2004 Student/Teacher edition and iLife 06 which both work absolutely fine with it. I'd recommend the £20 disc over this for anyone with recent software that's equivalent to iLife/iWork 09 that they're happy using.
