Shame it's the 2013 model by the looks of it. A 2014 refurbished is only slightly more than this from Apple themselves.

Are these fake?

4 GB RAM? Why buy a macbook that is outdated the moment you buy it?

Oh dear cue the Mac haters. Fwiw, this will work faster than most standard laptops plus do everything and more that any netbooks. Oh and it'll be worth a lot more money in 5 years when you come to sell

Great deal. Heat

Same MBA that I've been using the past 2 years. It really is great and very fast. Does everything I need it to do without crashing and the battery is still running for 7+ hours per charge.
Similar priced Windows/Android platforms would have better specs but in my experience they get really slow and bogged down within a year to 2 years and requires a restore of some sort to spruce it up again. I'm sure a SSD would prevent it from slowing, however there's no such need with the MBA. I'm sure it'll last for another 3/4 years for my needs.

I've often wondered this, but you can't help some people. I often wonder why people buy these lower spec devices.

You really must be doing something wrong with your windows/android device as my Tab 3 10.1 (brought on release date) is still just as fast and I'm a heavy user. Also brought one of them Linx 10 windows tablets on a spur of the moment, and thats also not slowed down yet, and thats a really LOW spec device. It's funny mac lovers feel the need to say it hasn't crashed yet. But that being said it is the lowest price it's been, So I guess to some that's still a deal.

Except this Macbook comes with an SSD so someone is full of ****

For info - would appear this price has ceased - link gives a different seller an £608.

Hmm could tolerate the spec but 11" screen is no from me

Macs are faster because they're engineered to harvest the radiating smugness energy emitted from the user.

Great deal for normal internet consumers and professionals...it is really fast and I think Apple does not need any introduction. It always feel great every time you open a great Aluminium machine with fastest booting speed...Go for it..worth buying apple instead of windows....

Worth checking but these are nearly always grey imports (non UK KB etc).

If you cant do everything you want (apart from mid-high end gaming and raw 1080p+ video editing) on a 4gb ram computer with one of the fastest SSD's available, you do not know how to use a computer.
I've had Unity3d (a popular 3d games development software) open with a massive mobile project open, with the Andriod Software Development Kit, 3D studio Max (3D modeling tool) and Photoshop with Firefox running 10+ tabs on Windows 7 (bootcamp) without any problems on this very device.

Shush don't tell the Apple people that! If they don't know they're paying massive amounts for average products, it means I can get them cheaper from Korea!

My Crossover 1440p 27 inch for example has the same IPS display as iMacs, yet it cost me £200! Shhh!

I had this model but with 8GB RAM, I really liked it (not keen on OSX mind) but it felt a bit pointless if you don't carry it around. 11" is really only for a machine you travel with a lot, my mate gets the train to London every day and so it's an absolute Godsend for him. Sold it to fund Christmas but thinking about picking up another one or a second hand MBP, if I got another air I don't think I'd bother with more than 4GB of RAM, never got close to using that with mine anyway.

They were referring to others such as Windows being helped by SSD and then they stated there's no need for the MBA- thereby implying they know it's because it already has one.

I am looking for a Mac book but I do not have the foggiest on what to look for. From reading a little I see that a ssd is better than a hdd but is 128 enough? I know there is cloud and external storage. and doesn't the 11 inch lack the sd slot?
ultimately is this a good buy?

If spending so much already, I guess the buyer won't mind stumping up the extra for a self-upgrade to 8Gb.

Edit: sorry scrap that, I don't think most would have the skill or courage to attempt that!

Good deal. If you like using apples operating system and you get enjoyment from using this product, then buy it. But if you don't like the product, well then why are you reading this?

Best laptop and best value for money for a laptop that is
1. lightweight
2. Battery life of >8 hrs
3. SSD

Only problem is one has to get used to using a Mac ( as I am doing now after buying refurbished from apple directly)

Hot price.

However, price seems to have gone up tp £600+ now.

I have the 256GB version of this model. The SSD does make a big difference as I have even run windows in VM on 2GB for each and get practically zero beach balls. I get more beach balls on my mac minis with 5400 drive and 16GB RAM or even my iMac with fusion drive and 16GB RAM on day to day tasks bar perhaps VM (where RAM is a factor) I have even run handbrake on it, but that is where the CPU not the RAM is the issue. Think people often forget Mac OS only takes about 10-15GB HDD space max so 128GB is enough for most users (please note I'm not most users and wish I had 8GB RAM only a few times for multiple VMs)

And how much did you spend on your gaming rig :-)

Crikey.....£530 for a refurb...may not look as pretty but you would be better off buying a Lenovo Thinkpad X220 and hackintoshing it.

What's your budget and your intended usage with a Mac?

Android phones with 4GB ram run slower than an iPhone with 1GB ram so it really doesn't mean much when it comes to comparing them. I'm a PC guy but my first computer was a Macbook and I always did love it. Prefer PCs now though.

Excellent deal,it's sad to see ignorance and lack of knowledge from haters who never owned a Mac and lack experience yet come and compare specs on a mac with specs on windows based machines.totally different operating systems, with different architecture and built..Mac os utilizes memory differently.a 4 GB Mac will perform better than 8 GB Windows with similar CPU clock..

Wrong, totally same architecture these days. They are both [X86 architecture], hence why it is vastly cheaper to hackintosh.

Resale value? If it is so great why are you already thinking of selling it (before you have even bought it!) ?
Some kind of weird Apple logic going on there.

Sent from my iPod touch.

Well the lower price of £529 makes up for the abysmal screen. At the original price point the screen included is a rip off.

£2250 >: D But I don't mind, it's a hobby as well as a tool. I use it for video and photo editing as well as 1440p (soon to be 4K when Apple goes 4K mainstream due to Korean availability ) gaming. Money well spent. Don't get me wrong, I've had a Macbook, it just wasn't for me. I now own a monster gaming PC and a Dell Chromebook for commuting/business trips.
