First post so let me know if i am missing anything !!

Been waiting for this to come down again - returning the one I got from Apple last week as paid almost full price and ordered this bad boy with about a 10% saving (got to use my Christmas gift cards too)

They also have the 512gb version for £1754.10

Great deal for those in the market for this model, otherwise I realise not everyones cup of tea so no need to go over the usual 'Apple bashing' - Remember this is a deal website after all !

Enjoy

You could easily get a better spec laptop for third of the price. Got to hand it to Apple to be able to sell these at this price though.

The 15 inch models are also £200+ off. Basically Amazon matches the EDU discount prices here, but if you can get an EDU discount it's worthwhile because you can get a much cheaper 3 year AppleCare warranty.

If you develop apple osx or iOS software then you have no choice but to use apple hardware, so any saving is good if you can get it.

Apple have gone mad with prices recently, which is why my macbook is still a 2012 model.

True, but I am in too deep now

Ridiculous price for the spec.

Got to admire there audacity, I paid half that for my Surface Pro 4 with near identical spec. and the Surface is pretty much targetting a similar audience.

Beyond ludicrous pricing.

Good review on this in Feb edition of stuff magazine but yes at least 300 quid overpriced apple have got too greedy

...missing the deal? The good price? Missing that people here hate getting ripped off, scammed, conned, cheated, robbed, hoodwinked, forced to stand and deliver oodles of cash for overpriced crappage? Most importantly the fact that any mac deal becomes ice cold?

Gave you some sympathy heat, wont help though. :P

You know that people choose to purchase, don't you? There's no conspiracy here. Have you considered coordinating a socialist movement? That rousing speech nearly enlightened me into seeing how oppressed Apple customers are!

Will be interesting to see how Apples sales hold up in 2017. The feeling is that they have hit a wall, but the combination of iPhone and Mac is incredibly hard to break out of once you're in the Ecosystem. It's a good laptop but at least £500 overpriced.

I think people are starting to realise the same about iPhone as well. I don't mind my work iPhone but it's really not as good as my personal Android phone from 2yrs ago.

A dual-core Intel U-series CPU, it's a hard pill to swallow at that price, especially with the 'Pro' designation; on the other hand, I imagine the battery life between charges is fairly good and that there is little audible fan noise, at least that particular U-series CPU comes with Intel Iris 550 graphics, rather than HD Graphics 520. Gorgeous build quality, stunning screen, all that good stuff.

I couldn't find it cheaper, so have some heat.

True. I switched to iPhone for 5 and 6, couldn't understand to fuss for less specs and being locked in unable to do what Android users were doing. Got an S7 Edge last month and there's no comparison. You could build a PC with better spec for about £500.

I love that I can now change what side to charge the macbook now and the fact for me and often came home to a uncharged laptop due to the magsafe not properly connecting - but I suppose everyone has their own preferences - still the best deal out there at the minute for most consumers

I have 2014 model which is superb but this new model is flawed, my brother who is a programmer says the top spec model (£2800) he bought for christmas is terrible.

totally ridiculous, who the hell is buying these.

People with more money than sense?

I find it difficult to understand how people on this site, who are money concious in the extreme, can suddenly lose their good sense when it comes to Apple.

Are people not able to buy a premium product at a slightly cheaper price? Not everyone wants to buy an Acer, Medion or MSI laptops just of the value.

People who buy into Apple know they are buying in a premium product/brand are happy doing so! If they want to spend upwards to £3000 on a Macbook pro, good on them i say!

A true polished turd and a turd that commands a price which beggars belief.

It's not even a good laptop. Keyboard is sub-par. SSD is integrated into the motherboard (making data recovery very difficult). Battery life is nowhere near 10 hours. Battery is permanently glued in, making machine impossible to recycle (even by Apple). It's dongle heaven, even if you own all other Apple Products+No MagSafe. Upgradability is zero. Minute changes between designs means third party parts and repairs are almost non-existent without using a donor machine. Touchbar is a nonsense for touch typists. Applecare is a must.

It's pretty much designed as a sealed up device with a 4 year shelf life, to be then replaced. If that meets the requirements fine, but that generally means you're not paying for it, a business is. If you drop it/spill a coffee on it, it's pretty much landfill or an expensive repair. Don't expect to get your data back from the machine itself.

You'll need a continuous backup system in place, as there are no second chances with this laptop.

It's not a good Laptop design at all. Apple know they have been caught out, hence the price reduction.
If this current design even lasts a year, before its replaced. I'll be surprised.
Apple have got this one wrong.
I'm an Apple user too, I like macOS, El Capitan is my preference, it's leaner than Sierra.
