10% off the MacBook Pros at Comet with the code 10PC found via xxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Not a Mac fan myself but £84.99 off the cheapest MacBook Pro and £179.90 off the £1799 one (non retina?) seems good considering Apple don't do discounts!

EDIT: Looks like the code also works on MacBook Air laptops as well if that is what you are after - full list and comparison of prices at other retailers here if interested: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Apple MacBook Air £764.10
Apple MacBook Pro £764.10

Guessing you can't get the top spec retina then? I was just about to purchase on their store with staff discount and now i'm going to have to do some math to see where is cheapest! Cheers op. Heat added.

What are the main differences between the air and the pro? Looking at the £764 price.

I added top spec retina price above - £1619.10 with the code mentioned above as that's the price it gave me when I checked.

What a great find !

Good deal. If I had a bit more cash I'd be all over this as need a laptop for Uni in September!

good deal but Apple is not affordable!

Just after double checking, they don't actually sell the retina model. It's only the refreshed ivybridge macbook pro's, so might want to edit post.

How much are they in the apple university online store?

yeah if you know of a student get them to buy it for you

OP, you need to edit your post. These are not the new models at all - they're the old generation (discontinued) - that's why they're cheap (before discount), then with an extra 10% off using your code.

If people don't already know, the price on top is for the old spec model, not the new one as the topic suggests

Go for Unibody Pro over Air... Fantastic machine.

These aren't the new models - the base Macbook Pro new model number is MD101B/A, but the Comet one is MD313B/A - These are all late 2011 models, hence being cheaper than the RRP before 10% off.

So which mon/year are these?

Original Poster

Sorry - have edited first post to remove reference to retina display. Comet site does say that they have lots of new ones. I'm off out soon being dragged around shops so maybe someone who knows their Mac can list which are the standout deals then?

13" Pro has a lower res screen 1280 vs 1440.

Tenex

Pro has a lower res screen 1280 vs 1440.

The Air is only 11" so you will need a magnifying glass to use it, the Pro is 13" - the Pro also has a disc drive - you can look at all the differences on the Apple website

There are quite a few Air/Pro differences, screen resolutions are different, processor, hard drive space etc.

Confused nearly every mac deal says its for the new models but ends up being the old ones, seems best method is just getting education discount and 70 quid credit to guarantee new model. Who wants oldtech at these prices.

same money u can get a super powerhouse windows laptop, and install hackintosh,

sometimes i wonder whether there is no recession but in the minds of sheep

There is a 13" Air as well which has a 1440x900 resolution. The brand new Air with Ivy Bridge is £999 and the code takes it down to £899.10. The main differences between the 13" Air and 13" Pro is that you get an SSD instead of a HDD, you don't get an ODD, and the CPU is a bit slower. I'm personally very tempted by the Air, as I don't ever really use my ODD, and having an SSD as standard is nice. The extra screen res is also a selling point for me, as as 1280 res on a 13" screen is a bit low these days.

I would choose the new air over the 13" pro, the upgrades make it a better choice. This is the late 2011 version so I guess it depends if you really need the extra portability. Still all great machines though, the new pro's (retina excluded) aren't that much better than these so you might as well save a few quid and get these ones.

Also good to see an apple deal with some heat.

..Dixons tax free at the airport is a great place to pick up a Mac laptop too IMO

A similar quality Windows laptop will cost almost the same price as the ones quoted here and we should not condone illegal software activities.

There are many more Microsoft sheep than Apple sheep! Its just the MS sheep have been spooked by sudden movement in the Apple orchard!

These are last years models but still a good price.

Does this code work on any of comets laptops or pc

Hot!
Ordered the new 13" Air using the code and saved £100, thanks!!!

Even better for me using my 10% work discount (not comet staff) on top of this - £688!!!

Getting towards a sensible price for a 13" Laptop

It's total cost of ownership that matters, not the initial outlay.

Most "super powerhouse" laptops will be worth a small fraction of their initial cost after a few years. Mac laptops retain their value extremely well, and there is a huge amount of demand for them in the second-hand market.

So who are the real sheep? The people who drop £800 on a Windows laptop then sell it on for £300 after three years (TCO: £500), or those who drop £900 on an equivalent Mac laptop and sell it on for £500 (TCO: £400) after the same amount of time?

this deal is about mac computers,no one asked your personal opinion about comparing them to windows systems.
and calling people sheep because they choose to buy a product that you don't like/cannot afford just shows how rude and uneducated you really are.
