MacHeist Apple Design Award Bundle - 10 Mac apps for $19.99, 10% goes to a charity of your choice

MacHeist are offering 10 Mac OS X apps for $19.99 that apparently have a combined value of $1,786. From the website, the apps are as follows:

BoinxTV ($499 value)
MacJournal ($40 value)
Toon Boom Studio ($249 value; OS X and Windows)
AccountEdge Pro ($399 value; US version - can be swapped for UK version, see below)
iSale ($25 value)
Picturesque ($15 value)
Starry Night Pro ($150 value)
Xojo Desktop ($300 value; OS X, Windows and Linux)
ScreenFlow ($99 value)
Fonts ($10 value)

At the time of writing, $19.99 is worth about £12.02, hence the deal's sterling price. Remember your card issuer may impose a charge for currency conversion. MacHeist will donate 10% of the purchase price to a charity of your choice. Redemption is not via the Mac App Store - licence codes are given alongside a direct download link for most apps, both of which are retained in your account at MacHeist for future reference. Some apps were revealed and/or unlocked throughout the course of the promotion; now all apps are included and the promo has been extended.

AccountEdge Pro: There was initially some confusion over AccountEdge Pro, as the version included in this bundle is the US version. I suspect that, being an American website, MacHeist either overlooked this or simply assumed the software locale could be easily changed. Regardless, to the credit of MH and the developer they have worked out the issues and now the software can be freely exchanged for the UK version (called AccountEdge Plus) by contacting Acclivity Software. Do not activate the US licence if you wish to do this.

As you can see, some apps are made for more platforms than just OS X and the respective websites allow you to download all versions. The licences you obtain from MacHeist likely cover such use, making this a potentially worthwhile deal even for those who don't have a Mac.

Separately from this deal, MacHeist are giving away Scapple ($15 value) in exchange for a Facebook like and a Twitter share. jshoughton has appropriately posted this as a separate freebie.

It's a bit of a mixed bag, as a budding astronomer and animator I will get my value out of Starry Night Pro and Toon Boom Studio, though I can see Xojo Desktop and ScreenFlow also being very handy. Take a look, see what you think

thanks luke xxx
Any of these any good?
Worth a go!, cheaper than a large pizza!
Starry night pro is excellent. No idea about the rest of them but worth it for Starry Night Pro alone. I'll buy it for that alone. So heat from me.

Where does it mention that you've the license to download and use the Windows version?.
Wrong link for accountedge, it's the US version accountedge.com/pro/

Not very useful here, unless you can use the download key to get the UK version from Mamut.
omg awesome price
Does anyone know if you can use the download key to get the UK version of accountedge from Mamut.
shame no music production software, logic would be nice;) although Xojo sounds interesting anyone used it at all? Is it any good?
and what about the mystery app? if I buy now, do I still get it when its shown or is it only for people who buy after its been presented?

iSale is very good, anyone who uses eBay a lot to sell items should check it out.
Cheers Luke!
The website look a bit poor to me but will have a think and probably give it a go.
Ok I have purchased the bundle, and received an email with 8 apps to download, but what about the 9th app? which still remains mystery? Will I get it once its shown, or will I not get it at all?
Brilliant value, heat given. Just cant see me using any of those.
very good deal, have been thinking about getting a mac of IOS dev and would be interested in xojo desktop so might just have to wait for 10,000 people to get the deal first.

I'm downloading now, but I suspect not as the UK version requires you to take out a yearly 'service agreement' as well as buying the software which seems a bit of a scam.
Nope. Doesn't work.
Just asked for a refund as the Account edge software is of no use to a UK user...
Wow, just wow. Now we just need to promote this to get to the needed 10k purchases, so that we can get Xojo Desktop. This is the real big one for me. If not, well, iSale alone pays for it...
Shame about AccountEdge, I had no use for accounting software so didn't test it personally. On the flipside it looks like Xojo is on course for being unlocked in a couple of days, give or take.

I haven't yet found any explicit legal text stating whether you can or can't use the Windows version of Toon Boom. Having bought the bundle you then make an account on the Toon Boom website to which your licence can be bound, thereafter it plainly offers both versions for download. Looking at the company's website, it seems as though the software is usually provided for both platforms, and even shows minimum/recommended specifications for both. Perhaps taking it as a given is too broad an assumption to make, though it seems very likely. If you need written clarification (e.g. for company use) then it'd be best to contact them directly.
This is now silly, I have just had a mail suggesting that to allow AccountEdge to function in the UK I would need to spend £169. Furthermore I cannot seem to get an answer to my refund request from MacHeist. This software was the corner stone of my decision to purchase this MacHeist bundle. "Caveat Emptor"
Ordered hoping for xojo (RealBasic) to be unlocked, for £12 you can't go wrong, even if you only use a couple of applications
I take it ScreenFlow is the mystery 2nd software package which 'may' be unlocked. Can't see any mention of it on the website or how many need to be sold before it is unlocked.
I really want Xojo!
Careful loads of issues with this guy and communication is poor I'd be surprised if you do get a refund.
10,000x$19.99=$199,900 sales to unlock xojo.
10%=$19,990.

They claim to have donated $2.4m to charity - so likely this will reach the magic number?
You do the math

Congrats on the 26^2 posts

I believe the $2.4m they refer to is across all the previous MacHeist bundles and challenges (many have been posted on HUKD). It shows the amount raised for this promo at the top of the page, it's currently hovering around the $11.6k mark.

Oh sorry, missed that - was looking on my phone!
Yeah I realised that was for all their previous deals (first time I've heard of them) - was hoping someone with powers of reverse extrapolation would be able to relate that stat to this deal

Heat for the deal anyway - have been looking for screen recording software and an ebay tool.
this is getting close for the xojo unlock....

...with my luck there'll be 9,998 bundles sold when the deal expires. X)

Quicktime player 10 will do screen recordings, that's what I use.....
I thought most macs were bundled with that ?

---
edit - it seem that version '7' is the current free download & that doesn't do the screen capture, I guess version 10 is maybe bundled with the media package on the recent macs. Can anyone confirm ?

I got a new iMac a few weeks ago, it came with QuickTime Player 10.3 pre-installed.

I bought it, contributed my 0.01%
Cost me £12.44 by paypal

Turns out QT10 does do screen recordings! Last time I tried (must've been an older computer/version) this feature was locked.

iSale is the first program I've used in nearly 2 years that isn't supported by retina! It won design awards in 2005 and 2006 when it boasted about integration with Tiger 10.4! Looks like the licence is for only one machine - if I'd bought it from the app store for £15.49 it would've been valid for all my macs.
I still think it will save me a lot of time/hassle as looking to have a clear out of 1000+ items on ebay soon.

We're dangerously close to 10,000 buys and time running out......
Come on, one last push for the 10k downloads and unlocking Xojo Desktop!

You know you want it!
Xojo now included.
