The fastest and most reliable PC backup and disc imaging software....and it's British The standard Win7 built in backup app is worse than useless, so I tested and bought Macrium Reflect. It's the best I found.

Great backup ..best I ever used.

Depending on the type of back up you want this may be of use. I found that any backup like this isn't great though. Even windows restore points give slow performance after they're used. And can cause ongoing issues.

What I prefer to do is use Cobian Backup 11 (It's Free). It copies the files I want to a location I want on a schedule I want. That way, if the PC goes wrong I can simply re-install windows and still have a copy of all of my files. Yes this may take a little bit of my time to install the apps, but it's problem free. Using global system backup software can often lead to registry issues etc.

"The fastest and most reliable PC backup and disc imaging software?" What a load of bull.

One word. Acronis. Google it.

PartedMagic is better, will backup Windows, Mac and Linux and it's free.

Sparx, I tried Cobian, and yes it is good. But it only copes files - as you say. This does that and more.

cb-uk, thanks for your polite and (un)helpful comment. Yes I have researched Acronis in great detail, and it is indeed very good. BUT, do your research and you will find Acronis is known for leaving undeletable files in your boot sector, and is for some people causes no end of incompatibility issues. For others it is great.

Must agree with cb-uk Acronis is the mutt's nuts.
Like partedmagic, Macrium also has a free edition which will satisfy most users:-Clicky!

I have always found acronis products to be wholly unreliable and difficult to un-install.

Much prefer Easeus Todo Backup Workstation.

Yes, I read far too many similar reports, which is why I settled on Macrium. It was Macrium and Acronis that made my final shortlist.

PS. There are only two types of people: Those that HAVE lost data, and those who WILL lose data.

A few years ago I would have agreed (swore by it). Now i'd say even the free version of Macrium kicks acronis in the nads and follows through with a wedgie.
