£54 saving over CURRYS price. Also qualifies for £40 credit towards coffee capsule orders

Was on the lookout for a decent , simple to use, coffee maker for the missus when she became addicted to the coffee machine in our hotel restaurant when on holiday this year.

Which? gave the M190 a best in category review and it got decent reviews from The Gadget Show (here)

Currys are knocking out the same model for £149.99

You should note that this model does not come with the milk warmer. That model is twice the width and the reviews on Amazon say the milk warmer is the weak part of the M190 (with Milk).

I would have gone for the M190 (with Milk) if Comet had honoured the deal of 20% off the original price, PLUS £70 discount applied at the till, but typical Comet - 'computer says No'

Cheapest I have seen this model online is £123.98

The Nespresso capsules average around 29p, although Waitrose now sell some compatibles at their stores, and Amazon seem to have a deal going most times I've looked.

Magimix's patent on the capsules ran out this August, so expect prices to fall.

Refuse to give the ceo my money, he is set to make millions off this, whilst staff lose jobs, all because they wanted to rip customers off whilst they were running.
Comet are in administration so money should go to suppliers/creditors. However, yes, they were rip-off merchants when they were alive. Terrible after sales service.

i too bought a coffee machine from comet not this model...however when i got home i found it to be faulty have been told because they are in administration i cannot have a refund
Two the with milk one I asked a out yesterday and the guy said with a big smile £200 after discount. When I pointed out that John Lewis do it for that anyway he said you get the guarantee with the manufacturer. I then had to state the obvious - why would I buy from comet when I can get it from JL to which he spoilt his expression.
If you don't need the milk then I say the m100 was good value at 55ish
Kaytee84, you'll have to contact the manufacturer direct for a warranty replacement. For me the risk was worth the £54 saving over Currys price.

Sid Harper,

I was told I could have the 20% discount (£50 saving), or the £70 discount, but that the 'computer' wouldn't allow both. The ticket for the M190 (with Milk) stated £70 discount applied at till. And also that 20% was off ALL coffee machines. However manager wouldn't budge.

Happy with purchase in the end. I hate coffee, but missus says it's as nice as a starbucks or costa.
Sid,

yes, good price for the M100. £134.95 at Amazon.
Yup I was told the same. Silly. Thing is they're trying to pull the wool over people's eyes by discounting off rrp. Most people who want something are in there with a smartphone or to check value. Those same people will never go back and they'll sell this stuff in the end at knock down prices to people only buying because its cheap not because they want it.

Of course the staff 's heart isn't in it any more either. I also reckon stuff worthwhile having was round the back waiting for the staff purchase after 48hrs to kick in.
went in and got a replacement...they were also giving people refunds
Sid, agreed on Comet pricing, although even before discount, I can't find the M190 cheaper anywhere else.

At -29 degrees I guess this deal shows that coffee-makers just aren't everyones cup of tea. Boom Boom!
Kaytee84, that's reassuring to hear. I'm off back down there shortly to see if they have any of the Humax Freesat HDR's left.
Brrrrrrr.. -65 degrees of cold in here.

It wasn't actively promoted in-store, but just discovered that ALL nespresso coffee machines currently qualify for £40 credit as part of the 'Winter Promotion' being run by Nespresso. The credit can only be used against coffee capsule orders though.

£55 for an M100, with £40 rebate appears quite the bargain, although £96 for a M190 with £40 credit, also quite a bargain.

Registered mine and all appears to have gone through fine.
