Sure it wont be the best camera in the world, but Id much rather take this to the beach rather than my £500 SLR.

I don't know much about cameras but for that price it seems a fairly good spec and you have always got Aldi 60 day return policy, so heat added!

Great price.......

Love to see someone use the self timer underwater

HOT

This definitely looks like something that would be of use to me taking up the mountains (etc) in any weather condition... be interesting to see how it performs though. I looked at cheap options not so long ago and they didn't get great reviews of taking photos in normal / dry conditions.

This is at the low end of price range that the waterproof Polaroids knock about in (though they're not quite as cheap).

Is it feasible that Polaroid re-badge stuff...?? or stuff gets re-badged as Polaroid?? (apologies, this is definitely different to the Aldi one, but to give you an example of what I mean - currys.co.uk/gbu…tml )

Might be a stupid question but could this be used in sea water?

no deeper than 10ft

I got one last year Great little camera used underwater in the sea and at the water parks got some great holiday photos underwater and standard ones also didn't leak like a previous Polaroid one did.

Ive had a total of 3 low cost under water cameras...... all have failed soon after use. Not saying this one will, but Ivew given up for the moment until I can afford a decent one.

What's the difference? 10m or 20m it's still in water! Or is it because of the weight of the water...

pressure

If it takes a decent enough picture it's abit of a bargain but there's almost naff all information online to find out before buying.

Yes, the increased water pressure from being over 3M (10ft) deep is very high. This is fine for swimming pools and snorkeling, but wouldn't be for scuba.

Bingo! The deeper you go the higher the water pressure and the more likely it is to find a leak path into the electronics.

Bang goes my idea for using this at the bottom of the Mariana Trench

I cannot believe you asked that question :). Here's a 3 hour and 20 minute education in what happens to air filled capsules as one goes deeper...

It would seem to be a 'Maginon 80 Splash' camera...so that will hopefully help you all in determining whether it is any good or not.

Pressure increases as depth increases >

http://www.wisegeek.org/what-is-the-deepest-depth-a-submarine-can-go.htm

The pressure at the bottom of the ocean is absolutely massive. No human could survive down there on his/her own, we weren't designed for such enormous pressure. Sea creatures have evolved to cope with the massive pressures, the ocean is vast and mostly unexplored, we're still discovering new lifeforms.

I got about 100.

Quality isn't great and I wouldn't even consider using it as a camera out of water, but as a basic underwater camera I think it's adequate for the price.

the underwater video seemed fine for a £40 camera, remember it maybe the way the person has uploaded to youtube which can determine the quality

Ok - I've found a pretty spectacular solution for about £77 (£60 if you don't need the case). Admittedly, it is an action cam rather than a normal camera --- but it is robust, and delivers exceptional video.

I personally think the video is at least on par with the GoPro's....which cost 4x as much!
