Tesco do aluminium 4W LED 2 x D for £18, or 3W LED 2 x C for about a tenner.

Tesco torches (and any other 10 quid torch) are really NOT in the same league as Maglites.

Really?

Agreed, you try culling seals with a standard torch, it will be broken after just one or two.
With a Maglite you can depolulate entire iceflows without scratching its shiny black surface.

I can go to Butlins for a week and it'll be cheaper than South of France but I know which one I would prefer. :whistling:
You see what I'm saying?

No, please explain.

The Tesco torch was reviewed on the British Blades knife site - which I doubt you can link to from here - and the Tesco torch beam in the pictures was far superior - but it is 33% extra power.

Also - with LEDs there is no need to have a 4D power supply, if its solely to power the torch.

I should mention I am not a member of the knife site - but it comes up often when looking at reviews of torches - as dies the candlepoiwer forum.

It's just a torch. If you have enough money to through away then pay over the odds if it makes you feel better.

Well if someone said that they had just booked a weekend in a posh hotel in St Tropez for £1000 and someone else said they could have gone to Butlins for a week for just £89. Its not really comparable. They both may have sunshine but thats about all that can be compared
A Maglite and a Tesco torch are not 'like for like'
I feel sorry for the OP that so many people have voted cold.

How can it possibly be paying over the odds. Its a Maglite, not a Tesco torch. They are in different price ranges?
Just because something is cheaper it doesn't always make it better or comparable.

Voted hot, Its just like the tesco Value curry sauce for 9p or an indian meal for £20 there both curry but i'm sure you would agree that paying extra gives better quality

Just to add - the Tesco 3W torches use the LED which is considered to be in the best three in production (Luxeon R bin)

The maglite does not.

So the maglite is wonderfully machined, and normally available in a selection of colours, and comes at a premium price - whereas the Tesco one offers more light for longer.

Remind me why you buy a troch?

You really really like Tesco torches dont you
My fave torch of all time is my rechargeable Mag. Nothing compares when playing Jack Jack shine a light under the covers... makes you temporarily blind but soooo worth it. They are over £100 though so only for the real fans :-D

To be honest I prefer my 1aa Ultrafire cree torch, would blow both of them out the water!!

i cant believe there's a debate about a tesco torch and a maglite hehe, someone doesn't have a clue what they're talking about
