A Maglite with a Krypton bulb! Have I warped ten years back in time?

Lol

I don't get why those old, out of date tech Maglites keep getting posted on here. Compared to led they have a poor light output, the bulbs don't last anywhere near as long and they are more power hungry on batteries.

Why would anyone want them ?

ebay led, 281387257692
Stick one of these in it.

Couldn't agree more
Except for one bit, the build quality kicks the life out of any of those LED types, that cost a fortune look nice but a small "clonk" and they're dead or start acting strangely.

The 9 hour runtime is wrong, they last way longer than that. (but still crap compared to competition)

Yes we all know that Maglites have great build quality, but so do some LED torches.
But the main function of a torch is light output..... Maglites fail at that compared to LED.

Because these 4D versions have a secondary use as a torch. ;-)

A thumping good deal

Ah yes..... the old 'the 4D Maglight makes a great tool for bludgeoning someone' cliché.
In all the times in my life I've needed a torch, I've not felt the need to be carrying a weapon.

Because if you know how you can upgrade it to a 1000 lumen output flashlight for about £20. Much cheaper than any other military grade flashlight.

Right I'm interested now....... Gotta link for these 1000 lumen upgrades ?

Search eBay for Cree upgrades. I personally use Torchsite but they are a bit more expensive.

It's like insurance. You only do without it until you need it, and by then it's too late.

Just had a look at Torchsite...... and they're more than 'a bit more expensive'..... like £50
Cant be bothered to spend ages searching ebay, especially for something that could easily be crap quality on there.

In which case, get yourself a 300 lumen torch that is as big as your index finger and runs off a single AA off Amazon for £2.33.

No-one needs a 400mm long torch that weighs a tonne that rolls about all over the place oO

Got one them Ultrafire's....... lasted me about 4 years now.
Its the best torch I've ever bought.

Of course I've had to put up with my life being in peril, because it isn't really big enough to bludgeon someone with.

You'll be Ok, Ultrafire crenellate the ends of their torches for a specific reason, not for decoration.

So despite your earlier comment, you may well be carrying a weapon.

I really am amazed that these are still sold as the updated version with a led has been available for years. Admittedly its more expensive but probably cheaper than buying a conversion kit for this one.
£25.99 for a maglite with a 3 watt cree

For those who may have other uses for this torch this is actually a 3 battery version

Turns out I made a mistake, I have the LED version of this maglite in 4D and the other smaller size whatever it's called from a deal on here a year or two ago.

To be honest, even they are crap, way too heavy and massive, but the build quality is far superior to any "Lenser"/"Cree" arrangement, which is beyond substandard. I just want a torch to work, often those Cree/Lenser ones just don't.

Yes, I should imagine that the Ultrafire torch could give someone a nasty graze.

excellent price, been after another d cell mag for a while, been bidding on a few on ebay, all still go for a high price. need a donor mag for the head unit, to use on 6 d with led mod
