What disappointment - it's only a few weeks since this was "Deal of the Week".

Still a HOT vote as this is quite a good series and great value.

At least I'm saving some money this week

I know, I got it last time too (not got around to watching it yet mind), but cheap is cheap.

If you've read the synopsis on season one you would be able to get by just watching this season; but to enjoy it fully you'll want to watch season one first.

It is definitely worth heat though, I find it baffling that MVM owns the license the second season of the show (titled Mahoromatic: Something More Beautiful) while ADV Films which is out of business happens to "supply" the first (titled Mahoromatic: Automatic Maiden).

It would make more sense if MVM were to have the license for both, as the stock for the ADV license season is dwindling and expensive. I may buy this later on as I know it is a great show first hand though the whole thing with Autos will make the show less approachable for other viewers who know the franchise or use Wikipedia to know what they are in for.

I agree with wombat6025 that people may be able to get by only watching this season (with the aid of a synopsis) though the first 12 episodes along with it naturally make the show much more enjoyable.

and that, in a nutshell, is the problem. Same with a lot of other series, even the likes of Neon Genesis Evangelion are stuck in the licencing limbo ADV left behind. Afaik there's nothing MVM, or any of the other UK distributers can do about it.

Very true, megalomaniac.
Still, it should be possible for a UK distributor to pick it up from Sentai Filmworks (who hold the US rights), as they typically pick anime up from American distributors like FUNimation. ADV and Sentai may have once seemed one and the same but today, Sentai who had their "Highschool of the Dead" licensed by Manga Entertainment for the UK due for this August release.

Of course, I'm assuming that Sentai Filmworks have the rights on their own and the rights didn't disappear with ADV... I mean, if they did, FUNimation (or any of the other companies who bought up works) would have been relatively likely to pick it up.

Expired: This weeks deal is Rozen Maiden - this is the complete box set with seasons 1 and 2.
