Just seen this for £47 in waitrose. HOT!
Thanks OP
Thanks! Bought!
I got this before christmas when I think it was the same price. Well worth a buy if you haven’t had it before
Just placed my order... you won't get it any cheaper than that.....and I am 46 next week....Boom!
Lovely job, got it ordered thanks.
Nice one OP, great price. Ordered.
Cant say I have much knowledge on the drink and am not a big fan of bourbon straight, very harsh compared to scotch for me, if mixing with it with cola, is it even worth buying this or better just sticking to the cheaper ones such as Jim Bean or Jack D?

If you prefer scotch is there a specific type you prefer? highland, lowland, isle, single, mixed
Select whichever, then I'll pose the same question should I just swap it out for bargain basement mixed tat?

I've had bourbons hasher and mellower than scotch I've had in the past (my normal goto's being from Islay)
I normally lean towards bourbons now and even some Ryes.

There's been a notable improvement in the bourbons available over here even in the common supermarkets giving a much wider range now with a much better selection than we've had in the past. Yes you can mix them with whatever you feel but they'll all have their own qualities even when mixed, not really sure that people looking at spending 30+ on a single bottle are looking at mixing with coke tbh. Normally reserve my more expensive ones for cocktails (where applicable) and straight

Speyside and lowland. And no, due to the cost of scotch I wouldnt mix it with a mixer, but with Jack Daniels being £26 a bottle in tesco at the moment for example, which is my normal drink in bars, is there any benefit to spending 29.99 on this one or do they all pretty much taste the same when a mixer is added?

If it's just for mixing with cola, I'd spend £14 on a bottle of Jim Beam or catch a Buffalo Trace, regular Maker's, Bulleitt or Wild Turkey for tasting when they are on a deal. There are a good range of bourbons available as J1135 said, but might be worth finding a bar to try them at first before investing. Hudson, Stagg Jr, and Weller are all really special.

Like you, I prefer Islay. I like original Makers Mark. My favourite bourbon is Bulleit, it has a slight coconut taste to my taste buds (everyone tastes things differently ). Is the 46 worth the money in your opinion?

£26 a bottle for JD is daft expensive, any bourbon mixed with coke wether it be a cheapy or a pricier one will taste completely different to JD+Coke

JD is a mass market Tenessee whiskey while this is a better upmarket Kentucky bourbon. Other good bourbon, in my opinion, are Wild Turkey 101, Woodford Reserve (especially when it drops to £20-21), Four Roses Single Barrel, etc.
It makes a great old fashioned. Orange bitters are on offer as well just add ice, sugar and burnt orange peel and you have a fantastic drink. 🥃

Is it the Agnostura Orange Bitters you're referring to? £6.99 for 100ml on Amazon - link

Didn't rate 101, similar can take or leave bulleit (deffo leave their rye)

My supermarket budget choice is Jim Beam unless theres a decent saving on summit else
The more expensive gotos being Woodford and Four Roses, whilst single barrels are good they can be hit and miss at times.
A couple that I was surprised with was tincup and also JD's Rye offering

Yes mate 👌
Good price, picked up 2 bottles when it was this price last year. It rarely comes down to £29.99

I've taken the plunge and bought one of each (the bourbon and the orange bitter). I've yet to try any spirit neat that didn't make my face contort like a champion gurner; they then end up in a mixer, thus making a mockery of the price paid! I think this comes down to having more money than sense - I haven't got much money, but I've got even less sense!

Thanks for that. I'll definitely give both of those a try.
The chances of me making my own salted caramel syrup are zero; thankfully there are bottles of the stuff available - link

I use the monin salted caramel 👌
Haven't had this but a pal suggested I slip some bourbon into my whisky rotation (always have a few bottles on the go) and I've enjoyed Woodford Reserve. I have one by me right now actually. Hot, just bought.
Good price original Makers is nice so I guess this should be good too
Maple syrup is another option for a twist on an old fashioned, a little easier to get hold of.
has anyone got their bottle yet?...i am beginning to doubt amazon are getting genuine suppliers providing their drinks ..This bottle is so harsh to the taste i dont remember 46 ever tasting like this ...maybe its just me

Mine arrived yesterday, although I think there’s a leak in the bottle cos quite a lot of it seems to have disappeared since I opened it
