what does it normally retail at?

I'm a JD drinker, how does this compare?

Not really the same product but very nice and well worth the price

Much better than JD for sure!
JD isn't actually a bourbon

Decent bourbon this - usually retails £23-25 I believe. Definitely worth it if you like bourbon.

have never got round to trying this.
my favourite is bulleit bourbon, that stuff is soooo smooooth

Original Poster

Yeah man, bulleit is superb stuff, £21.99 in Cold Norton which is near me.

Knob Creek & Woodford also very tasty stuff

my tescos was selling of old stock of bulleit a couple of years back for £10 a bottle. i bought 4.
ran out a few months back.

Bulleit for £10 a bottle?? You lucky lucky phillyboy

Hope this comes online! I feel another account and a 15 off 50 coming!

yeah i love the stuff. also tastes great in a "manhattan cocktail"

It's nothing like JD, I didn't like it but you may! Quite a smokey flavour I thought. and if your thinkin on putting coke in it!? Don't, it's vile! lol Not that you should really anyway but I tried it.
Great price for it!

really good stuff ! thanks for the info mate

I love bourbon whisky! I must get me some of this shizz.

picked up a litre of this coming back from France not long ago for 25 so this is a great price, still waiting to open it. Almost feels wrong to break that wax seal.
Agree with the bulleit recommendations but my favourite would have to be Buffalo Trace, Asda here has it in from time to time, beats JD completely and is great with or without coke

Although i love JD.... Most 'real' bourbons beat JD hands down, but thats the power of the brand, not many look past it. Single barrel, Silver and Gold are also very tasty.

Personal fav is Wild Turkey, but yeah Buffalo Trace is a real treat.

JD Good, JB Better, MM the best !

Not tried Buffalo's doodah - must give it a go...

Whisky Sour's are the best!

JD is just great with a mixer.

This stuff, you drink straight. So if you like Bourbons, I highly recommend you give it a shot at this price!

Just as a FYI, Weatherspoons seem to stock this and many other strange and fine brews, so good place to try out something new, rather than buying a bottle.

Hope I can find this deal in a local Tesco.

Why anybody would waste a good whisky with a mixer is beyond me lol.
Anyway Makers Mark is quality and £15 is a great price!

Can anyone confirm this anywhere other than Chelmsford? The deals are usually on the shop floors around a week before they are online. I'm excited about this one!

Not the biggest fan if this but the price is great

this stuff is incredible, not a bourbon (or much of a spirit) drinker myself but this is well worth putting aside for a special occasion (such as days ending in Y).

used to work in an offlicense, got a 4pack of bookers, bakers, makers mark and knob creek with a stand on the cheap, must say knob creek won the set but all of em were amazing. i draw analogy to russian standard vodka, i can't stand domestic makes but pay a few bob more and you get a much nicer product that can be enjoyed more and serves as intended (in this case from freezer, as opposed to asda cheap crap that just freezes).

I agree with the comments on Bulleit Bourbon, Markers mark is a great alternative to Bulleit Great price, will pick up a bottle.

That's my Sunday lost. Have some heat

nice 1, love it when thes deals come up..

Marked up at £25ish at Stockport.

OP, and others, this is bourbon whisKEy; if it's not from Scotland, it has the additional "e". Trading decription: http://www.scotch- whisky.org.uk/swa/93.html#Spelling

I speak as the daughter of a Southerner who put himself through uni on Maker's Mark and Wild Turkey (the latter of which doesn't have an especially great reputation), who lives with a Scot in Scotland, and worked as a purveyor of whisKy for many years

Maker's Mark is one of the relatively few American-made whiskies to be labeled using the Scottish spelling "whisky", as opposed to "whiskey" (with an "e" in the spelling). The vast majority of American distillers and the American general public tend to spell the word with the "e", although the United States law and some producers use the spelling "whisky". The few American distillers who use the spelling without an "e", such as Maker's Mark, tend to have a Scottish heritage or a marketing strategy of associating their product with the Scottish tradition.

Also this was on a normal SEL, not a yellow one. It had a star next to the price

thank you!! i was literally just about to buy this for £26.

This is quite a nice Bourbon, definitely worth £16.

My normal tipple is Four Roses small batch, bourbon lovers may want to give it a go, smooth and sublte, but has a lovely flavour.

May check my store! One of the best Bourbons! Better than JD any day.

Hmm, interesting. That's not what every single Scotch producer, bottle shop manager, and landlord up here in Scotland has ever told me...

none in my Tesco (as usual) but got a bottle of Jura which had £7 off so not a wasted journey (although I had gone to buy a £25 iTunes voucher for £20 and completely forgot) - must be getting old ....

Bought two bottles today in Bournemouth - shelf label said '£25.79' but at the till they scanned at £15.79, Cheers!

missed the Jura. But got this; never had it before, and have to say I'm impressed. Lovely texture. Going to go back for 2-3 more tomorrow. Will keep an eye out for the Jura.
