Is it the best Makita drill, no.

Is adequate for most people yes.

Good deal.
Does the bundle come with a blown vinyl case though? It doesn't say anywhere that it does, but it's the sort of thing that you'd expect with a bundle. I think I'd order the bundle over separate items on the off chance of getting one.
What's the difference between this drill and the 482?
Torque mostly

482 is general purpose whereas 453 is light duty. 482 has nearly 50% more torque 62nm compared to the 453 with 42nm. 482 has a light and the brushes can be replaced in the motor. The 453 motor is a sealed unit and last time I looked it cost around 50% of the cost of a new drill. I have the 482 which replaced my 453 and they are worlds apart. The 458 is an absolute beast with 88nm of torque and rightly comes with its own handle which you will need otherwise you’d break a wrist lol

No it wasn't. The 481 is simply the brushless version. Yes more torque I agree. The 458 can damage your wrists - hence it is supplied with a handle the same as the 481. Oh and I work in Health and Safety so have seen the damage a 458 can do when not used properly.

the 458 was makitas top of the range brushed 18v drill, they are now all brushless, there top of the range brushless 18v drill that DID replace the 458 WAS the 481.also the 458 has a small plastic handle 88NM, the 481 has a steel handle twice as long because its 125NM, i dont care what you do, i sell tools, so guess what i know a lot about, they also dont even make the 458 any longer , there all old stock.

Not sure where you get your information from but, Makita still produces the 458. I agree brushless (BL) is now top of the range but, it expanded with BL not replaced brushed. No doubt at some point they may stop with brushed tools but, according to my Makita dealer brushed are still a big part of their range and still feature extensively on their website.

You know it, 481 is rightly called the wrist breaker
Had 2 of these, first one died, body cheap enough to replace. Died again recently, when opened up the solder on the wires to the motor had gone brittle and the connection had failed, easy fix, but still a faff. Id spend a bit more and get a better model personally as the replacement I have is noticabley better
