What's your budget? I got the dtz154z for £100 but then returned it. Got the cheaper DTD152Z for £50 and I'm really pleased with it. Simple, no frills, very effective and powerful for price. Especially goes well with the Makita mag boost for a fiver extra.
no prob ordering..got 2..cheers op

I ideally don't want to spend a fortune on one because it's not something I'm going to use everyday, more of a DIY projects tool. I was looking at both the models you mentioned, I think Amazon currently have the 152 body at £55. What's the Makita mag boost?
Didn't pull the trigger quick enough, battery gone upto £32.99 now 🙈

I got it when it was £125ish. The way I see it is its either this or Lidl's Parkside £20 one which is also great for the price. No point of settle for the mid range. For £175 I got the driver DTD171Z + battery 3.0 + charger. I was not going to spend more then 200 for this. Plus its great piece of kit.

Amazon is great, but don't forget using other sites will give you the option of getting some money back via sites such as TopCashBack or Quidco, normally only 2-3% but it all helps

The Makita Mag Boost is essentially a magnetic cylinder with a hole going through it which will fit on most bits or impact bits to magnetise the bit, this allows it to magnetically attract screws or botls etc... The makita one can be used on other bits such as dewalt, milwakee, boshc etc..

For the sake of confusing you, there is a difference between this mag boost and a standard magnetic bit holder:
- A standard magnetic bit holder is normally placed in the chuck of the driver, the bits are then put in to the magnetic holder and held there with a combination of magnetism and friction
- Mag boost is placed on the the bit itself. The bit is in the chuck of the driver.

Some youtube videos explain in better then I can.

If you're a DIYer like me for the odd project then the makita DTD152Z is a solid buy. They have 3 year warranty if registered within first 30 days I think on Makita website.

Best of luck. sorry for the essay.

Mine arrived today, pretty certain it’s fake. I have 6 other batteries to compare in to and this one is noticeable different in looks and feel.

Mine arrived last night. Looks genuine. Even had the power display on the side. Charged it in less than 30 min and it successfully powered my cordless hoover and impact driver without issue.

Hope yours gets sorted
