Was interested, saw there was no battery. Looked at battery, saw there was no charger...

Nearly £100 on top of this unless there’s alternatives to what I saw?

The alternative might be that this is aimed at people who already have the batteries etc for other makita tools.
That’s not such a great deal for the rest of us. However by the looks of it you just need the battery as you can charge through the device. That’s more of an optimistic alternative I was looking for.
Once you are onboard with the Makita LXT concept life can be quite a bit simpler; one charger, a few batteries and you can go off a do so many things. Right now my collection is restricted to drills and saws but as my garden equipment wears and breaks I’ll be replacing items with Makita LXT items. Thanks for the post OP
Savvy shopping bagged me a 5ah battery and charger for £78
I got this a few months back. Works great. All are happy.
Only issue is - suddenly gardening work becomes faster. So there is much more cleaning/getting rid of the results
I'm supposed to get today they 36V (2 batteries) Chain saw. Was 149 a few days ago.

You defiantly need a charger, you cant charge this up with the battery on.

Body only. No battery

If it has a z on the end of the model number it means body only.
I got this for £51 on the day that eBay went mad and gave everybody 20% off. Great little machine.
