Was looking for a decent SDS drill from a recognised maker for some major DIY this weekend, seems to be best price all round budget SDS , especially as several bits are included in the pack, very, very good reviews, currently on sale in Screwfix down from £149.99 and closest competitor is £200 on Amazon. Cashback available from the usual sites too. Free delivery.

i wouldn't get Hitachi personally, I'd go for the makita above. my experience with hitatchi drill (an 18v cordless granted) died after about 12 months of moderately hard usage diy.

Yes' make sure it's got a clutch ( which these have ) or risk breaking your wrist! Wear goggles after all you've only got one pair of oO and aim straight - that's about it really.

...Only the weight of it, if you're going to be holding it against a wall for any length of time. I needed it to chisel a hole for a waste pipe, and the extra 1/2 kilo would make a difference when I'm holding it. Other than that it's a good alternative.
I have one of these. It's great. Comes with a decent set of tools which others don't so that's another saving.

Erm...why?
because it kept firing the included sds chisel out of the chuck! nearly shot my buddy! replaced with a bosch which was stolen, since then another Makita which is pretty good but I can't recommend this model.
I brought one of these at the weekend to refurb a bathroom (To use the chisel to take tiles off) and it worked a treat. On the plus side you get some SDS bits too. Great tool and its a bargain price.
