I own 5ah 18v Hitachi drill and driver, as much as I'd love to say they compare, Hitachi gear isn't in the same league as Makita. Wish I'd stuck to Makita.

The problem with this Makita stuff are the batteries.
My standard 9.6 nicads are far superior, the lithiums seem to need charging a hell of a lot.

Strange, as I think the opposite. With this type of stuff, it's all about buying what you feel comfortable with. I have two 18v combi drills and an 18v sds drill by Hitachi, all of which have served me well for years, even the NiCd batteries have lasted c.7 years and still take an excellent charge.

I have the twin pack above and the 10,8 reciprocating saw - all of which are excellent.

This kit has a drill driver, if you want to drill holes in brick you'll need a hammer/ combi drill.
You can get one from ffx for £9 more, we'll worth it in my opinion.

Not quite as good quality, well reviewed Erbauer for £99.99 at Screwfix maybe.
