The Makita DHP453SFE is a 2 speed combi drill with all metal gears for greater durability. The unit benefits from 16 torque settings and a variable speed control trigger, for maximum control when used as either a screwdriver or drill. Comes with 2 x 18V 3.0Ah Li-ion LXT batteries which can be fully charged in 60 minutes. This deal is on line to collect in store. Seems very limited stock. I reserved one in Salisbury. Andover was the next nearest. None in Southampton area. I hope this may help someone out there

Looks a decent price for a Makita - heat from me
Done some random stock searches and there is stock scattered around the country. But not Norwich and Southampton

Good deal with 2 batteries -
-CLX202AJ-10-8V-Cordless-Combi+Impact-Driver-Kit-with-2-Li-ion-Batteries/p/169580. here is is a deal at wickes for £150 for a twin pack. Batteries only 1.5ah. Good deal but I needed the larger batteries

Currently £145 at B&Q, bit more but may be useful if anyone can't find stock at Argos.

Also worth noting that this has the 60min charger rather than the 22min charger which could make a difference if you're going to be using it seriously.

The £100 B&Q drill has non LXT batteries and is useless if you have other Makita cordless tools.
I would definitely avoid this model.

Low torque given the price
This is the makita super super- Entry level Drill, it's kinda naff when you have used way better stuff from makita, slow, bulky, not that powerful ,I threw mine out (just the unit of course, lol) as didn't want to bother selling it and it was just taking up space..
Still. If you are coming from something not-makita it will be a world of a difference.
Anyway still a good deal, as that price would get you only the batteries+charger if you bought it the regular way,

What I would do is get this kit, sell the Unit itself on ebay for circa 30 , and buy the DHP458 or DHP481 if your budget allows it.

I was referring to the same model as originally posted, not the one you have linked to. The correct link has been added by vasya above.

Yup! my Dhp458 still going strong after lots of use and abuse 3years later,a bit heavy but at least its properly made.

Beware of that ebay link for the charger- Looks like someone is trying to pull a fast one...
Just reserved mine. It's down at 129.99. Even better
Not a mind blowing deal. About right price for this combination of components if you price everything up e.g. batteries £40 each. Drill £45. Charger £30.

Low torque given the price

This is a great price for this drill. Makita are more expensive than other brands because they generally are more rugged and durable the higher torque drills from Makita are more expensive.
whats the quality like on these cheaper models?
Gets plenty of positive reviews on the Screwfix website.

Or the version with a faster 22 min charger but a single battery. Also good reviews.

Batteries work with any of the LXT range of tools such as

Portable vacuum - excellent for the car or quick tidy-ups around the house. Not heavy duty but convenient for lighter work.

Cordless strimmer

Good deal. They are an entry level professional drill but not bad. We bought around twenty of them at work around five years ago (the previous model bhp 453, same but would not acept the new 4 and 5 ah batteries) and my two of three have failed in that time. Three year warranty. I have got a load of makita lxt stuff for home. One you have got the batteries and charger extra machine bodies are quite reasonable. This tool is quite light to handle.

Well, had it for a week. Drills holes screws things. Battery seems to hold up well. Biggest disappointment that it doesn't have a little light built in. Was happy to chose it and I use it daily

Just tried 4ah battery in the drill. Works fine
Good deal in my opinion.... can’t go wrong with makita

£119 amazon

That is for a much lower battery power at 1.3 not 3ah
Now at £129.99
Managed to pick 1 up last night from Argos.... Will replace my G series I bought last year ... I’am not a tradesman just a bit of DIY here and there . The G series will now be my screw driver while the LXT will be the workhorse.Having now purchased an LXT model with 2 batteries means I can add to my makita collection ( lol ) with bare models .... cheaper in the long fun 😊
Click bait. Argos could have 200 of these in each store but they don’t because they’d rather sell something else with a higher profit margin.

seems about the same as my 5 year old b&q one than? cost about £12 back then >.<

Yes it will because its a D code drill. The one we have at work are a b code and 4ah will not fit.
An alternative, lower AH rating but still 2 batteries plus a full drill/accessory set in the lid. Max torque unspecified
