For anyone interested, have a search for "IKEA hacks". You can make some very basic (cheap) looking IKEA furniture look far more interesting/expensive with a little imagination. Good deal OP.

This is an IKEA product, not Argos.

The drawers are solid and very strong (I own two of them).

Assuming you have owned this particular product, perhaps you assembled them incorrectly?

Cheers.
And they chip very easily and its impossible to touch up damage unless you spray the whole item again!

Hi, I did own this product, it's a very cheap board on the bottom of the draws that you slide in and use little nails to secure, would be very hard to assemble this incorrectly. The board will bend if you are putting heavy clothes in it. Just a warning more than anything, don't put loads of sweaters and jeans in it id say.

True, if buying these, get the glass top as the top surface is prone to blistering and will get the most punishment.

I have the standard ones in a white ash/oak or something... these look as good as the day I bought them, and that was in about 2012!
Thanks

Great price.

Weren't the MALM chest of drawers recalled/discontinued in US because of tipover risks?

Perhaps you've owned it quite a while ago then, maybe they've upgraded - I'm not sure? As the boards in the base of mine purchased a few months ago are quite thick and strong, they don't just slide in like cheap argos/catalogue style bendy chipboard. They're reinforced with a metal rail on the sides, multiple screws and a bar at the rear. I have the bottom drawer for jeans. Bases are still strong and unchanged.
IKEA Coventry shows up at £35 for the 3 Drawers and £45 for the 4 Drawers, under IKEA Family for the Oak Veneer finish

That's why the new ones have clips you screw into the wall
I have the white gloss they are pretty solid

No idea but I hope so.
I always look in John Lewis, Habitat and Heals

And then buy at IKEA
I have been to Sheffield yesterday and 4 drawer ones for £30 saying they were damaged. It was in undamaged boxes. I picked up 2 and got home. No damage whatsoever. And it does seem bit more sturdy comparing to last years stock.
I also own these and can confirm overtime the 'sagging draw base' was addressed by a metal rail that goes under each draw base.

We've had our for near on 10 years, some slight fading in colour but they're opposite a window.

I'm a large person which = large clothes. I have no problem storing my clobber, in fact the drawes are quite spacious and offer a cheap but effective storage solution.

For the price they are ideal even without a discount. Perhaps not to everyone's taste granted.

It sounds like you didn't attach the metal bar in the middle underneath the draws. I made this mistake but read the manual again and spotted the mistake. It makes a large difference to what the draw can handle in weight. Heat OP.
Great drawers. We have a few sets in different sizes, excellent quality. Very strong, never had any issues with base of drawers, and my husband puts jeans, boots etc in his!

Nope all attached fine! Just cheap materials!

People seem to think they are fine, maybe worth going in and checking them out to see, maybe as the previous person said they've improved since I had them!
Make sure these are bolted to the wall they topple forward with great ease if heavy items in the draws

Never had a problem with Ikea drawers, I think MFI days are long gone, although I still use adhesive to assemble.

Yes putting a brace underneath is an idea they pinch from me in the days of MFI.
whats the delivery cost?
Had these for years. Great quality and good value for money. Would recommend.
My first ones were the ones without the bar and the bottoms of the drawers did fall out with heavy stuff in them.
However I contacted Ikea and they sent me the strengthening bars, free of charge, from the updated ones and now they are great

How you do that?

They have always had wall attachments supplied for the last 11 years at least unfortunatly some people chose not to use them.
