At the moment, Manchester Megariders are only £10 on the newish 38 service (Manchester Royal Infirmary to Farnworth via city centre, Salford, Swinton etc). Nothing stopping you from just walking on, buying one and walking straight off again and going and using on the Stagecoach you want to use if it's not that one (they are a standard Megarider, just can only be bought for £10 on that service). £13 on any other Stagecoach bus. Bit of a faff perhaps but maybe worth it for some! They are every 10 minutes daytimes.

Very specific but deffo worth sharing, thnx.

First and Stagecoach seem to be having a war on this route at present. I've seen "trains" of empty double decker 38s trailing through the city centre, its madness. Ultimately results in higher prices as one operator will win the route and maintain a monopoly. I so wish the system was like London, it doesn't matter who owns and runs the bus, it should all be the same colour scheme and price regardless.

And could probably run a lot of it from what they take in public subsidy as it would be a lot more integrated and forwardly planned. Many routes wouldn't be profitable without the public subsidy anyway.
