Found 27th Feb
Quite a few cheap direct flights to Cancun from Manchester in March via Tui - plane is a 787 Dreamliner

Lowest price I found was £229 per person for 14 nights 20th March to 3rd April

There are also prices in the region of £250pp earlier in the month

Few Things to note
  • Checked in baggage outside of hand luggage is an extra cost
  • Departure tax from Mexico not included in the flight price and has to be paid separately (around £40)

perfect timing with this weather!
Great price and Tui are fantastic for long haul economy. Think you have to pay tax when you leave though unlike other airlines?

Which most airlines include but not Tui.

Also its only payable in Peso's so make sure you get the money changed before arriving at the airport
There will just be someone stood in the checkin line collecting the money at a little counter

They are very good, alcohol is indeed free and they seem more generous with it than Virgin. The entertainment and food could be improved but they get you there in comfort

It’s safe according to the Gov site .
We went last year for 14 nights and stayed in the centre of Cancun RIU peninsula . And went on many trips and walked up the strip and never felt unsafe .

Tui are very good for the price you pay. The departure tax is not included but even then its dirt cheap.
They do serve alcohol and have decent food and inflight entertainment.
Voted hot.

Great Stuff, thanks
So need a holiday in the sun. Heat!
Cheap accommodation deals? Cmon dont make me look it up myself...
I'm in playa de carmen now, about half an hour south of Cancun, stunning beach and all Inc hotel in gated area playacar, but while we've been here one of the ferrys to cozumel was bombed with 20+ injured (fuel leak blamed but watch the videos on twitter) and we've had money stolen from our room and room next door had a watch stolen, still it's been a lovely holiday but shame these things ruin it, sadly looking forward to -6 & snow back home. Watch the video on you tube called unreported world Cancun 1.5m views, quite an eye opener!
Over a grand 2 weeks later when kids are off.
Pretty sure Ross Kemp did one of his documentary programs on this highlighting the local attractions

In Cancun?!? It's probably more dangerous wherever you live. Shockingly ignorant comment.
It's a giant country that is not the stereotype Hollywood & the media paint it out to be.
It's the aim of TV programs to increase ratings. Anywhere in the UK would look shocking with a shock documentary to get ratings.
Returned from just south of Cancun 2 weeks ago after a great trip with Tui. We hired a car for the whole holiday, traveled 600+ miles and saw no problems whatsoever (except for petrol pump attendants that invariably try to diddle the unwary!). People were so friendly and the tourist hotels were superb. Feel very sorry that the area suffers from negative comments.

Already been. Compared to the rest of Mexico(it's huge) it's pretty safe. I managed to travel the whole of the South East coast on my own and the most dangerous thing i experienced was a bust ankle ligament after going snorkeling hungover. Some of us like a bit of excitement and find the idea of sharing a plane with screaming brats and selfish parents on the way to another packaged all inclusive much worse than avoiding the occasional bad apple travelling, you can avoid them most of the time. Not in a resort. Dull as dishwater in my opinion.
SPRING BREAK!!!

The ugliest thing I experienced was cruise liner tourists pouring into places like cozumel and Playa del Carmen. I'll make an exception for the 'hooters' though, it was my first one. Playa was ridiculously over priced compared to other places on the coast.

Lidds - you need to get your facts right!! The departure tax is payable in one of three currencies - pesos, GPB £ or US Dollars!! Can only be paid in cash, so no debit / credit cards are accepted - if using notes from any of the three currencies then they must be in relatively good condition - BUT NOTE that Scottish bank notes, although part of UK currency, ARE NOT accepted!! :-0

You don't require a shock documentary to do that. The UK is full of stupid people. Read the tabloids. It amazes me that people pay to have their intelligence mocked.

Some airlines include it in your flight. Ask them if it includes departure tax and if it does take a copy with you to departure because they won't take your word for it.

Only in the north. Cancun is basically the USA's french riviera and is perfectly safe. Don't go during US spring break as the whole place is full of mindless whooping yanks...

Tui does not. Before you pay for the ticket online you will see this message

"Please note that there is a compulsory overseas departure tax that is not included in the price of your holiday. It is payable in cash only upon your return at the airport, at a cost of approx. 1120 Mexican Pesos. This can also be paid in GBP, EUR and USD, but the amount payable is subject to any changes in foreign exchange. The departure tax is controlled locally and so is subject to change without notice. Always check before you travel for up to date information.”
