An absolutely amazing deal if you are able to make the dates! With a brilliant airline as well. There are also cheap fares to other destinations in Australia (similar prices as Sydney).

I'll post a few screenshots in the comments of sample dates and extra information.

The link should hopefully take you to the offer details page which states...
Departure Period: 13 Apr 2015 - 12 May 2015
Min/Max Stay: 7 days/1 month
Trip Type / Class: Round Trip / Economy
Cancellation: No Refund
Ticket Change: GBP 100
Refund: No Refund

(Where it says ticket change, I assume that it will be £100 plus the fare difference, and for one way)

Note: Flight times may be longer than the usual 23/24 hours due to the price (so longer stopover), but from what I'm seeing the durations vary for different dates so just have a browse to find the best for you. I have found 24 hours outward and 28 hours return which is absolutely fine in my opinion at that price!

Flew with Cathay for the first time from Manchester to Phuket in December. Have been flying to the Far East for 30 years with all the other major carriers and can honestly say that Cathay beats them all for comfort and service in economy, so this is a cracking deal.

Hot. CP is one of the safest airlin

I was looking for a ticket in these dates. Excellent find, many thanks!

Awesome. Cheaper than just flying to Hong Kong!

Latest return date you can book is 20th May, so 1 month stay departing 13th to 20th April.

A hot deal and CP are good.

But with 34" seat pitch (compared with 32" on CP) Thai Airways are my Asia airline of choice out of London in economy if price isn't a factor.

Hot deal, but will be entering winter in Oz so will be mild.

If price isn't a factor, wouldn't you choose business class?

Flew with Cathy Pacific from Bangkok to Singapore absolute brilliant service, journey wasn't that Long but within an hour food was served, generous leg room and great service. Made BA who I used from Heathrow to Bangkok look like an airline run by the Chuckle brothers with their 80+ year old flight attendants, matchbox size leg room and planes serviced by the dodgy geezer down the road.

I was expecting to see somebody moaning because Manchester is cheaper than LHR. Maybe they haven't logged in yet

I'm going travelling later this year and will probably set off in May, if I decide to go to Australia first is there anything stopping me from buying this return ticket but just not showing up for the return?

Obviously I'd have a visa for a longer stay sorted etc. I only ask as I would imagine this is much cheaper than a one way fare!

I'd reckon One way to be much cheaper than this deal... £306 in April - London to Sydney

HOT deal for return trips though..

May appears to be the month for cheapest flights from Uk to Oz to date throughtout 2015. There are a few other airlines also offering around the £500 price return flight - Emirates, KLM, Qantas. Sometimes it is best to look up each one on their website and work it by dates you plan to go if you are wanting specific weeks.

I've put screenshots showing sample dates that it's available for in the first comment.

Try using Kayak rather than going direct through Cathay Pacific - prices seem to be coming in slightly cheaper. It seems like you can do a stop in Hong Kong free of charge too. I got Manchester->Sydney->Hong Kong->Manchester for £492.98 in May going through LastMinute after searching on Kayak.

Amazingly the best price I could find was for the exact time I'm on holiday in May. I'm not really going to get chance to see much in Australia beyond Sydney and a few day trips but I couldn't resist at this price - especially given how much I loved Hong Kong on my last holiday. Big thanks for posting this.

Aw, i have planned to go in June

This is tempting...Sydney, enough said. Wonderful city.

But to temperature, I've been in the middle of their "winter" twice...never seen it drop below 25c. At times it was hotter at night there than it was during the day back in Blighty.

You could also get it even cheaper through the Flight Centre price beat!

Cathay is the best sp. for Hongkong.
If I recall correctly once they had some union issue and all staff threatened CP management that they would not 'smile' at passengers. Guess the result!

I live out in Sydney now and would say that a typical day temperature is typically around the high teens/low twenties during May.. Night time does get a bit chillier with it sometimes dropping into single digits, but still quite reasonable.

One way ticket for me.

great post, I'm off to see my brother who bought a log cabin in snowy river and is never there. I might just spend a month or so looking after it for him! I've spent a lot more than £500 on a wks holiday in Spain.

great price, great airline - cracking find...

Better deal to Philippines though...

The deal to the Philippines is good, but it's not specifically a 'better deal'. The distance to the Philippines is about 7000 miles, and it's about 10000 miles to Sydney. It also depends on where you'd prefer to go to when determining if it's a 'better deal'. The bottom line is that Cathay Pacific have some excellent sale fares around at the moment. (I say this light heartedly - sorry if it comes across differently! X))

No i understand your view... as a general rule it's about the same cost to fly to Oz in peak as it is to the PI so i thought it was a great price for both! Off peak it's always cheaper to the PI
