Not all baby carriers are the same. If you're serious about wearing your baby then a decent weight bearing carrier is a must. I've used this and love it.

Manduca is a great option, similar to Ergo, and spreads baby's weight close to your body so baby doesn't dangle from pelvis and isn't hanging from your body creating parent back/shoulder strain. Suitable from birth. Cheapest it's been on Amazon (now £66) but Amazon seller also selling with free delivery for £65.99.

Sorry OP, nothing personal, but please don't buy these. You trip... you fall on the baby.

Alas Herbert I'd never leave the house if I thought about every possible doom scenario ☺
Fab price for a good quality carrier. I've carried all four of my children (obviously not at the same time!) and never fell once whilst doing it and I don't know anyone else who has either. I have however almost tipped my pushchair up several times on uneven pavements. I have a similar style Lenny lamb carrier and my little girl loves it and it's so nice to be able to shop with both hands free and no pushchair to navigate through tiny aisles.

If you fall while having a baby in a carrier you can use your arms to save yourself and the baby, if you trip carrying a baby in your arms you can't ! Stupid comment.
I have this exact carrier and it is truly brilliant. I paid less than this some time ago but still worth this amount
back carry and you won't fall on said baby ... I've carried both mine with no problems but as previous person said have had a lot of near misses with a pushchair...

only if wearing silly shoes like most "yummy mummys" seem to do at christenings these days! hands free carrying is great when it's your 2nd or 3rd child.
