Do you know what’s the difference between 15+ , 20+ or 25+?

I researched it some time ago... I’m pretty sure the higher the number the better the quality
Nice one OP, have some heat
I know many people swear by it but you're probably better off finding a local beekeeper.
I appreciate that not everyone is convinced by its benefits, including me, but a 250g jar for £7.79 is a lot cheaper than else where and so I have ordered a couple (24+) to try. Quidco as well. I know others who have tried it and say the taste is much stronger than standard honey so at the very least I will have some flavorsome honey on toast, yogurt, etc. Heat from me.
free delivery if you spend £35
Totally unproven to be any better for you than any other honey on the planet. No extra health benefits at all except that it MIGHT help a wound get better a bit more quickly if you rub this on it!
And there's twice as much Manuka honey sold in the world every year than is made!

This is why I suggested a local beekeeper. I have a vested interest being a beekeeper

If you subscribe to Netflix? Take a look at "Rotten", Season 1 Episode1 ‘Lawyers, Guns and Honey’. This first episode is all about honey, honeybees and the adulteration of honey. They also cover China’s arrival into the international honey market. If you’re not on Netflix you can get a month free to see if you like it and watch this series as well as other quality films.
Manuka Doctor? Is that to pretend this has some medicinal benefits. If this is how it is sold then I would hazard a guess that it has low or very little medicinal benefits over ordinary honey.

This honey has too much ordinary honey in it to pass the New Zealand Manuka honey test. It is a blend of manuka and cheaper honey.

minervascientific.co.uk/doc…pdf

The article shows that the Aldi Manuka honey is much cheaper than the rest and is as effective as all the other manuka honey brands.

Sorry if I'm being dumb, but how is this possible?

Paul Gtey from expert-x.com (post dated January 2017):

"Dana, thank you for posting.

The short answer is that Manuka Doctor “manuka” honeys are most likely low-grade honey blends that wouldn’t qualify for the UMF ratings earned by genuine manuka honeys.

Manuka Doctor manuka honeys have, I understand, been withdrawn from the market in New Zealand, because the wording on their labels would be illegal under New Zealand regulations.

Is this the Manuka Doctor 20+ honey you’re looking at?

The clues that this honey is not high-grade manuka honey are:
– No UMF registered logo.
– No disclosure of MGO content.
– The label uses the terms ‘bio-active’ and ‘activity’ which New Zealand regulations ban from honey labels. This honey label would be illegal in New Zealand.
– The 20+ rating is stated as being the “total activity” and “peroxide activity,” which both of which are inappropriate measures for manuka activity. One of the distinguishing characteristics of genuine manuka honey is non-peroxide activity, the opposite of Manuka Doctor’s measure."

It's not possible - that's the point. Much 'manuka' honey isn't manuka at all.

It's thought that a lot of honey being marketed as Manuka, isn't really Manuka honey. In other words there's lots of fake Manuka honey about.
Bingo
All the snake oil 'cures' and aphrodisiacs are like that. Rhino horn, sharks fin, musks etc. All might have a bit of the original but basically are watered down. Because they are unproven and unquantifiable no one knows any better. Just eat lots of vegetables and high quality meats instead
Most, if not all, "shop" bought honey will be a mixture of several honeys, from several countries, pasturised and highly filtered. Have a look at Ep1 Rotten on Netflix or Youtube(?)

Repeat, find a local beekeeper their honey will/should be unadulterated, cheaper, taster much better, will not have travelled the world and the bees will also be treated humainly.

If you have the time and inclination also watch "More than honey" then decide for yourselves why American commercial beekeeperd loose 50%+ of their bees year on year but don't see the problem in the way they manage their bees.

I'm often asked about the benefits of "local honey" regards hayfever, as many believe it does them good. As there's no conclusive evidence, we advise them if they feel it's doing them some good then carry on. IIRC grass pollen is the main cause of hayfever and as bees do not use grass as a pollen sorce then...............

Even though I keep bees, I don't take honey winter or summer and I don't get colds either.

Interestingly, honey NEVER goes off!

Interestingly, honey NEVER goes off!

Honey is hygroscopic, it absorbs water. So lid needs to be kept on as it can spoil by fermentation.
Is the Aldi manuka 5+ as good as the Rowse 10+ in fighting infections ? Thankyou for your help the Aldi is £10cheaper
Neither is. If that's of any help
Which honey would you recommend
any 'real' honey should do fine. but it's only even slightly 'proven' to be of benifit if yourub it on you on a burn or whatever!
With Manuka Honey all the measures are about what is real, rather than fake manuka honey - none of the measures will tell you if manuka honey has any beneficial health benefits. All the supermarket brands pass the test of having at least 50% genuine manuka. The higher the conductivity, the less manuka they will have.

There is no science based evidence that manuka honey has any health benefits over normal honey. If you do believe it is better then the higher the MGO rating the better - ie. Rowse and Sainsburys
