I brought both of them and gave my daughter a small amount of the 16+ one and she said it stung her teeth as her second molars are now cutting through (shes 11yrs) and i read up that its quite a powerful antiseptic used for ulcers and digestive problems along with wound care above umf20 you can actually taste the antiseptic in it but not in a nasty way.

It had a yellow label so it may well be nationwide hope you find some .

Kathrine Jenkins uses it as a sore throat remedy as well as seen on the Paul o'grady show 1

My dad actually used it on his leg after he had an operation and contracted MRSA. The wound had been open for 10 months and he tried manuka honey after being recommended it and it really did help...

Amazing stuff!

Applied it to both ends of my ethernet cable, at the router end and the PC connection.

I no longer need anti-virus or firewall -its that good!

Honey FTW!

Lmao that made my day =D
I guess I'm going to get balled at if I ask if this tastes any different to cheapo honey? After Reading the comments I really want to try some!

I read all these posts about what it cures and sticking it on body parts! But can anyone tell me if it tastes good? I think I must be an old fudd, but I buy honey to eat on my toast LOL

The taste is very similar to normal honey and go for the highest UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) goes up to 25+...think for MRSA, leg ulcers, etc you would need the UMF20+

Read more about UMF here, if you have the time:
bio.waikato.ac.nz/hon…tml

For stomach ulcers or stomach problems have it on toast as then it stay around for longer; on its own it is just like honey and digests through pretty fast...

the taste is stronger and richer and a little antiseptic but not in a unpleasant way, yes it tastes like honey same a cheaper one just sooo much better, im sure if you got some and didn't get on with it someone would gladly take it off your hands  but if you are a honey fan then i doubt this be the case.

I would be very careful about putting anything above UMF 18 onto a wound as it can cause burns, I used UMF 16+ and it was very effective on a foot ulcer which was open and infected to the bone for over 8 years. The dressings supplied by the NHS were UMF 12+ but I didn't like the dressings as they were very rough and hard so after reading about Manuka honey I bought a jar and made my own dressings. It is fine to use as bacteria does not grow in it once the jar is opened, I just used a spoon put in boiled water. See here for more info:

Has the Honey been Pastuerized?

The whole point of active manuka honey is the 'UMF' antimicrobial property that scientists discovered it has. This is a little understood property that is an additional property of some batches of manuka honey harvested in New Zealand - but it is unfortunately destroyed if sterilised (ie heated to boiling). If Tesco's honey is sterilised then it is no better than ordinary honey for therapeutic use.

The UMF property is measured by the UMF strength - 10 or more is considered useful for therapeutic purposes. The honey is used as a wound dressing material for leg ulcers, burns and MRSA infecged wounds. It is also taken orally for stomach ulcers. Many also like the taste (but you do not need a UMF manuka honey for that!). Also, many people take the honey around winter time to boost their immune system with all the bugs around. It might be a good idea to stock up on it to fend off the SWINE FLU!!!(lol).

I get my honey from ]manukahoney.co.uk and have it for general health. The Tesco deal posted is a good deal if the honey is up to the quality, but apart from this special offer this website sells UMF 16+ 500 gram jars for only £15.99 which is better than you see in any shops. Their website is also great for researching the honey - hence I am a bit of an expert!

I also use their Skin Health Cream (a cream made using active manuka honey) for my eczema and have found it to be incredible for this. They also have various other interesting products that use manuka honey.

Great price - thanks OP. Been wanting to try this for ages but the normal prices are too high!

Hope they've got some in stock in my local Tescos.

which store did you get it from? my local hasn't got it on offer.

That's an amazing price, I'm off to get some. Thank you :-)

none in silverburn

For the record, I am a champion of mauka - best thing if you have a sore throat (any honey will help, Mankua is the best). It does however taste minging! It smells a bit like antiseptic & tastes like it smells. By far the best taste is Jellybush (the New Zealand version) - sainsbury's did a mixed manuka & jellybush, but seem to have stopped - it was nice to taste!

My opinion is, no matter how bad it tastes, it sorts a sore throat, so I just put up with it.

It seems to have the medical profession quite at a loss to expalin how good it is, but thankfully they seem to be embracing it!

none on offer in horwich :-(

err surely that was my opinion?

Bit stressed are we? lol

None here :-( looks like you got lucky!

Thanks Katya1971 for posting such an excellent deal, I found one from the Cheetham Hill branch Manchester this morning, riversdale manuka honey 16+UMF 250g price £4.68, there was only one left, asked for more but he said its a clearance line so this would be the last one.

I am a wheelchair user and as stated in a previous post use this honey for a wounds I suffer. Can I thank the gentleman (NOT) who was in the Tesco Warrington store last night who was stood by the honey looking at them all. I approached and said to my husband that's the one getting the Manuka 16+ which wasn't showing as reduced.

The man then said 'so you've seen the offer on the internet" as I said they weren't shown as reduced so he took the stock left about 4 jars and said I'll check the price for you, of course he bought the lot so thank you, he obviously didn't know which honey was on offer so I came along an made it easy for him.

I think the reason for reduction is that it appears they have changed supplier as they had a new range of 10 & 16 + hence adding to the confusion of the man above

Don't know why this has expired I did manage to get some 10+ and 16+ last night from Northwich.

Thank you for this OP. I managed to get a jar in Burton and its gorgeous! I have been loading a tea spoon with it and licking it like a lollypop!
I rang head office to try and find any more stock but all stores are showing zero as its now discontinued. Gutted, would love to have stocked up on this.
