I'm not sure what will be included, from my friends, some have said everything and other say selected/most items, we will have to wait and see on Friday. Or if anybody else who works there posts any other details

well its worth checking out, there is always something randomly reduced that is worth getting from woolies. voted hot for the info but assuming it probably should be in the misc section! goodnyt!

How big's big? The Preston branch of Woolworths is a decent size.. same goes for the Southport one, too.

theres a Big W in cheetham hill close to manchester city centre:)

This was on today in Edinburgh, the former Big W store at Milton Link. Didn't go myself but told it was mostly toys that were reduced, other things had money off them too. Not sure about the electronicals and stuff. Thought it was only one day so hoping it might continue up here too

Hopefully the staff who are losing their jobs bag the best bargains and also make a few bob on ebay to tide them over Xmas!!

I went in a small woolies for a couple of things today. I must admit, all the staff seemed pretty miserable. One guy looked as if he was emptying old stock out of the stockroom onto the shelves. It was all going out with half price stickers (half the lowest previous price). There were a few reasonable bits and pieces, nothing big, but I didn't really have time to look properly. I did get a dustbuster for £5, though. I also picked up a three for two deal on paint-your-own breakfast sets (down from £7 to £2.50 each, so three for £5 as stocking fillers). The branch I went into (Bishops Stortford) had piles of these. I can believe the half price business. It looks as if they are going to just clear out everything they can.

I tried getting that point across to people in a couple of other Woolies threads about them getting as much cash as possible on the run up to Christmas...but all I got was grief from them....

Big W @ Bolton

Big W @ Bolton

There isnt a Big W in Bolton. Only the Woolworths store in the centre of town.

thanks for the heads up

Thank you-voted hot.

Went into my local woolies yesterday and loads of stuff had already been reduced, all the household, gifts, chritmas, clothes. got some bargains!!

Hope this is true, but i'll be waiting til friday before i vote

not my most favourite people at the minute as ive a bike for my wee lad on order from about month and a half ago and they now saying this morning they dont know if it will be delivered after saying all along (right up until yesterday in fact) it was due for delivery yesterday. but i suppose this is a hot tip if true. :whistling:

hot!!! (if true)

Already loads reduced in my local one. Also other bits and bobs incl. home ware/books/dvds etc. up to 90% in some cases!!! I bought a pilates set originally priced up at £24.99 reduced to £3

Hot if true, but boy, I feel so bad for them. Guilty even for supporting them now their prices are rock bottom! Although, in my defence, I have always shopped there for toys, etc.

I hope the staff that are leaving will find work again soon.

Can't believe there will be no more Woolies. My uncle bought my first panda watch from Woolies and that was 40 odd years ago. I'll be too sad to go to stores now - would feel like a vulture.

Any idea if highchairs will be included. I desperatly need a good one, but just don't want to spend a fortune on something thats going to get covered in food and drool! Hot if it happens.

I feel the same way... I always remember woolies from when I was younger- It always seemed magical for some reason  And now as an adult I will miss it even more for the great prices, although I think thats partly why they are in this situation... In fact I don't think I've ever paid full price for anything unless its been a card or wrapping paper!!!

Ironic that is takes a fire sale to heat up a Woolworths deal.
