Fair enough!

Title is badly misleading - wireless router (for USB 3G dongle/rj45) and rj45 bridge (for wifi or 3G dongle) - is my best understanding.

I have a few items like this - very niche, but invaluable when you find a use (e.g using a device such as a satellite rec. with only RJ45 with WIFI/3G, or making a 3G dongle into a mifi).

Many thanks. Just ordered three of them. I intend to give 2 of my power line adaptors wifi capabilities and the third will give me wifi at the office.

shame no 5Ghz

Hi, can I plug this to a powerline adaptor for it to to be become a access point?
thanks

I have a more expensive version of this. It comes in most useful when I'm in a meeting this on with a few people and only one network cable. As mentioned, a bit niche but invaluable in the right situation. Next on my shopping list, a displayport to hdmi adapter...

That would be my belief (it is the use sheerpride suggests they have). Check the Q&A on maplins to be sure (please post back urgently if you get a no).

I doubt it but does anybody know would this work with my Android phone with USB thetherinf enabled instead of a 3G modem?

"What is the Ethernet port used for?
Depending on what you want to use this device for, as a Wi-Fi router or a hotspot, you can change it to serve either purposes. The Ethernet port on the device can be used to share your existing network which comes from your cable or ADSL modem, or a LAN cable from your office or hotel. Alternatively you can share your existing wireless signal to multiple devices."

Can someone explain in layman terms what this is used for please???

This may be a stupid question but could I set up password protection for this router?

It creates Wi-fi from a input of Ethernet (attatched to a device connected to the internet) or a 3G usb stick modem.

You can connect it to a raspberry pi's ethernet socket with a short bit of patch cable and then by logging into the IP of the network you can control the music from your phone on rune audio, if you solder on a pHAT DAC youve got a decent audio system.

I ordered one a few months ago when it was £4.99. It never worked very well it would constantly need restarting for me to be able to connect to the gui, when it did work the device was very slow. It also only supports 3G "only" dongles, not those that also support 4G. I purchased a TP Link MR3020 which although more expensive works perfectly. I wouldn't use the device as a 3G wireless router, although I think it may be a good WAP or bridge for this price.

Heat, just got last two in Perth reserved for me and the old man

Could this be set up as an access point.

Yes, this is exactly what it does. The best description is that it's a wifi bridge.

Collected, thanks OP!
