You could also pick up some cheap batteries with this as it already qualifies for free delivery . I added 6 x PP9s for £2.40.
Does it make sense to plug this into a Powerline adapter in a different room to the main router, then use the Ethernet ports on the new router as well as having better Wi-Fi range?
No gigabit but not expecting at this price

Not much information on the Maplin site, probably another reason they have gone bust. I suspect this is the same as the Wavlink WN529A3 on Amazon and Ali express. The info on there says it can be used as a Wi-Fi extender and also using a cable.
If I bought this to replace my BT Homehub 3, might I see some improvement in my home's, at times, inordinately slow, home wi-fi?

It should help spread the Wifi but wouldn't improve a poor broadband signal.
gone for it thanks op heat added, hopefully will give me a decent signal to my summerhouse lol

Thanks. For £13 I think I'm just going to get one an see if it does anything. It can't be any worse!
10/100 is too slow if, like me you have 200mb cable.
ordered thank you

That's my thoughts, it won't break the bank and if it does what I want it for it will have been a right bargain.

Yes this probably isn't for you but there are many poor souls out there that have much much lower broadband which this product will be plenty good enough.

It has 300mb and 867mb as wifi but only 100mb as LAN

You may find that this would serve as an addition to, rather than replacement for, your Homehub. The router from BT will contain a modem which will be able to interpret the internet data to and from your house. Separate to that, the Homehub will also contain a router, which sends this data to the connected devices (phones, tablets, consoles, computers and the like). It looks like this deal is for a router only, but you can still use the Homehub as a modem, then use this Wavlink to send out the signal to your devices. But don’t expect to be able to rip the Homehub out and replace it entirely.

That's what I'm hoping to do and if it is the same spec as the Wavlink it will work. The lack of info on the Maplin site is a bit of a bind. The Wavlink looks the same and the model numbers match so fingers crossed it will work as a repeater from the WiFi signal.

Ah...I didn't realise that. So not all routers have inbuilt modems? Is there such a thing as a modem/router (like the BT HH3) that I should be looking for?

Just been looking at HH3 router manual and it says it operates with a separate 'Open Reach ' Modem. Is this the set up you have ? Is it ADSL (phoneline not cable)? The router only works with cable.
Bought for my parents, good price .. thanks ..

There's no separate modem box on my set-up. We have the lowest form of BT broadband so just bog-standard ASDL (no fibre or cable).

At the house's BT socket in our hall, there's a little splitter box which has two sockets marked PHONE and MODEM. The home phone has it's own cable. There's a second cable that connects the MODEM socket to the ADSL socket in the back of the BT Home Hub 3. After that, all of the devices connect to the HH3 via wi-fi. We don't use any Ethernet (wired) connections).

Does that help?

Sorry Joe90 Guy but I don't think this is any good for your set up.

Am I understanding this correctly, if you wanted to use this to get the best broadband WiFi speeds it just won't work but if you wanted a fast WiFi network it'd be OK?

Broad band speed is down to what you pay for, this router will just help with spreading wifi around your home ( usually at reduced speeds to wired connection). For example our max broadband speed is 200 mb (wired) wifi varies from 20mb to 150mb depending on location around the house/ time of day.

Right yeah that's what I clumsily meant but I assumed that it's LAN was slower than what it's capable of using WIFI which makes it no good if you're hoping to use this elsehwere in the home to achieve those higher speeds you can get on Virgin.

Ordered mine on 22nd too, got an email last night to say it's been dispatched by Royal Mail and will be delivered Saturday or Monday. That's out of their 3 to 5 days free delivery ( unless they don't count weekends) but as long as it gets delivered I'll be happy.

Fingers crossed , I'll post on here when mine arrives. They still have them in stock but £14 now , that means they should have one to allocate to your order. I hate it when you order stuff and a week later they tell you they're out of stock.

Set up as a repeater in 5 mins and now got double speed I had, even in the far corner of our house. Well impressed. I definitely recommend. Although Maplins one's as far as I know are sold out the Wavlink labelled one is still available from other suppliers for a few quid more.
