Ready, set-up, go!
Turn your home into a race track with Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, a brand new way to experience Mario Kart on Nintendo Switch!

Drive a kart in the real world using familiar Mario Kart controls and see the action from your kart’s on-board camera displayed on your Nintendo Switch or TV screen. Watch as your home is transformed into ocean depths, a sandy desert and more from the world of Mario Kart!

See your home from a new perspective as a Mario Kart race comes to life on your screen. As you race around the course you made, you’ll see other racers trying to beat you to the finish line as well as items that you can collect to even the odds.

Things that happen in-game will even affect how your kart moves in real life. If you use a Mushroom, your kart will get a small burst of speed, but you’ll come to a stop if you’re hit by another racer’s Red Shell.

Friends and family can also get together and enjoy multiplayer races for up to four players, so long as each player has their own Kart, Nintendo Switch console and a copy of the software.

I can't decide if this is genius or total crap from Nintendo.
Can't belive it only comes with 1 car and Luigi is in an entirely seperate base set. £180 for the 'set' advertised in the Nintendo Direct.

Yes it has small print but look at this shot:

It's a download code with these, which is a bit unfortunate i reckon

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit includes the following:

– Kart (Mario or Luigi)
– 4 Gates
– 2 Arrow Signboards
– USB charging cable
– Download code

Doesn't feel like a deal, feels like an ad...

Just get it from Nintendo Direct. Granted more expensive.
I was actually expecting this to be more than it is when I saw the announcement, seems not to bad of a deal for the people who could appreciate it

I held back on the Nintendo cardboard and glad I did as picked up all the sets CHeaper than one set at launch. I want this but don’t need it so I’m happy to wait and take a gamble this will drop in price and if it doesn’t it doesn’t

Considering Amiibo’s cost £15-30 each, these car’s do a lot more with a camera on top plus you get the game, so in Nintendo’s world this is actually quite cheap. I get that they should have Luigi as a £30-40 separate add on though, not boxed as a complete set.
Going by the blurb it seems like you would need another switch to use another car so perhaps that is why you can't buy separately. With everything else released recently I think I will be holding off on buying this one and hoping it comes down like LABO did.
This is very cool, and if it was £90 for the set with two cars I would have done it, but having to buy two sets is a a bit annoying when the fun is undoubtedly with having lots of cars whizzing around the front room
Crap I a code so you can’t sell it on...once no longer wanted
Bargain... save 14p

Doesn't say cartridge either. It's been reported it's a download code by various sites though

This is Pretty pointless, you're looking and driving with the switch screen no point of having an actual rc car.
I'm guessing this won't run well on carpet?

That would be my concern too. I doubt there is much power or clearence to these things. Very short carpet or hard floors for sure
GREAT PRICE...BUT

What happens if you just buy the Mario one?

Can you still play or must you have another one (Luigi)?
Be kind of worth while if you had a few spacious multiple rooms with wooden floors for a different scenery, playing it in the same room for years would become slightly boring.
Do you need to buy the cars sperately

Really hope the software is just a free app

Really hope the software is just a free app

That would make good sense actually, as most of the manufacturer costs would be the Karts themselves and the cartridges will be useless without them. But we'll have to wait I guess

Edit: Website states,
The Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit software will be available as a free download from Nintendo eShop and from this website from 16/10/2020.

Which should mean any resale value shouldn't be affected

Nintendo used to be affordable. DS £100 GameCube £130 were launch prices!
My house is to small
Well I've gone for this. Looks a blast and frankly my kids will love it. Great xmas present (if I can wait for then)

It's £99.99 everywhere else so this is a decent saving
Just get two small RC cars, get a few tubs of duplo/jenga blocks/obstacle packs, build some ramps, decorate it and have fun without the need for anything with a Nintendo badge.

They just built something people already have the capability to make, without the gimmicks!

By how I understand, one car means one human player vs who ever your playing against online or computer players.

If you want more human players then they each need a switch and a car.

The physical car replicates the computer interactions, so if you get a speed boost, then it will physically speed up, if hit by a shell it will stop etc etc.

This is what I’m struggling with, how are you meant to watch the cars whilst looking at the switch??
Don’t think I have a big enough room for this lol
It's really cool. But you're either going to be looking at your switch out the kart all the time. So you'll miss out on either the game play effects on the switch, or the RC moment if you're watching your display.

Interesting idea, but I'm not fully behind it.
Does anyone know if shop to take money upon pre order or despatch?

So accounting for inflation the GameCube was £215 in today's money. (Calculated using the bankofengland website inflation calculator). So still around the same price for things nowadays really.

This does much more than that. It'll create a virtual course and you'll see the course outline as you race, you can race against virtual enemies that use AR, it'll track laptimes, you can use powerups (video shows someone using a banana skin and it causing the RC car swerve side to side) .

The closest I've seen to this is modified scaletrix

Got excited whilst watching the direct as thought we were getting Mario kart 9. This looks fun but they’re due another real Mario kart
