About the game

Game, set and super shot!

Settle it on centre court in Mario Tennis Aces for Nintendo Switch, the wildest, most tactical Mario Tennis adventure to date!

In this action-packed sports game, up to four players can ready their rackets and choose from a number of Super Mario series characters, from the main man Mario himself to forgotten favourites like Dry Bones! Whether you’re a newcomer just getting into the swing of things, or a seasoned pro looking for deep strategic payoffs, Mario Tennis Aces serves up a superior game of tennis!

Call the shots

Mario Tennis Aces brings new twists to the good ol’ game of tennis, and offers a refined approach to gameplay. It’s all about non-stop, split-second decisions!

There’s a variety of shots to serve up – topspin, lobs and slices, just to name a few! Watch your opponent’s moves carefully and unleash your most tactical, tricked out shots for game, set and match!

An all-star cast, a star-studded adventure!

All your favourite Mario characters (yes, even Chain Chomp!) are stepping onto the wildest courts yet – in dense jungles, outside bustling train stations, and even aboard seafaring ships!

Wario and Waluigi are in on the action too, and these pesky troublemakers get up to no good in the game’s Adventure mode. When they unearth an ancient tennis racket, they cast a spooky curse on poor Luigi. (As if he wasn’t already enough of a scaredy-cat…)

Now it’s up to Mario to bounce his way through a smashing quest across a colourful world, filled to the brim with the wackiest, wildest and most varied Mario Tennis courts to date! Take on big boss battles, complete missions, contend with all sorts of hazards, and upgrade Mario’s abilities as you go!

Play your way

Whether you’re alone or with friends, get into classic Mario Tennis action in a flash with Free Play. Customise as many – or as few – of the gameplay options as you like!

Getting into the competitive spirit? Best a series of challengers to emerge victorious in a classic knock-out Tournament mode!

Want to take things down a notch? Play a more authentic, stripped down game of tennis where only basic shots are allowed with simple rules, or use your Joy-Con like a tennis racket and play with motion controls in Swing Mode!

Take on the world

With Nintendo Switch, you’re ready to take on challengers anytime, anywhere. Pass a Joy-Con to a friend, connect over local wireless, or hop online for regular tournaments.

I see switch, I vote hot
I wonder whether this will be offered free at some point, as part of NSO. They will likely add more games to it at some point, other than SNES, NES and Tetris and have already had a free to play week of it. We'll see
So... We're just going to get a separate thread for every deal that was posted in the mega thread the other day... Alright then.

I completely forgot about that. I would like full access to games I don't already have (yes I know not everyone has Mario Tennis Aces but... Yoshi's Crafted World would be nice! )

It's likely to be games with online play though, won't be Mario Kart or Smash. Maybe just another Kirby Clash type.
My money is on Tennis but it would annoy many who paid for it already.

IMHO you are more likely to see Mario Tennis on 3DS (good game) or Mario Tennis Wii U (awful game) on NSO. Tetris is unique, it's basically a 30ish yr old game updated for online play and an easy/cheap tie in with NSO. Can't see Nintendo getting any closer than already are to other consoles online formats myself.

Haven't they already done Tennis? I would think they'd do games that they've not given for free before. Also I'm sure they did Captain Toad Treasure Tracker once which has no online play right?

True about Captain Toad. I meant free forever like Tetris, not just a week. I'm confident they'll add more one way or another this year though.

I highly doubt they'll do a game for free forever that's already available to buy (like Mario Tennis Aces). It would be free for a week, unless the membership prices drastically increase
Got this game for £18.90 from Tesco a few weeks before Christmas. Would much rather have the physical game for resale value.
Heat for the brave post

Based on what I’ve seen so far from NSO, absolutely no chance of that happening whatsoever for at least the next 20 years.
Can this be played on a switch lite? Especially multiplayer?

Maybe. But I reckon there will be another free game this year.

It should work on a Nintendo Switch Lite, but no swing mode. I have played this game on my Nintendo Switch (not the Lite model) in handheld mode and swing mode cannot be used unless docked to a TV
