I know it's weird, they are next to tins of food all out place.
I've NEVER seen veg I'll have to pop down tomorrow hope I manage to get some! Heat from me
We saw these in Quality Save and they were "seed potatoes"

If that's correct then these are even better value for gardeners. They are normally £1 at best and you only get 5 to 8 small seed pots.
Variety "Harmony" in Home Bargain Accrington.
And yes, they are eating potatoes!
I've only seen one of the three Home Bargains in this area that sells veg - it also sells chilled and frozen foods, which neither of the other two do either. I suspect it's normally the pretty big stores that do it.

I saw normal white potatoes for 55p and Maris Piper for 79p, so I think the OP might have got the prices mixed up. But they're definitely not ones for planting!
junk4

I got the Maris piper from hb today for 69p, so much cheaper than supermarkets, though I am near tarporley...

I think you could be right in that the poster has made a mistake with the price here. According to the original post the 55p potatoes were not Maris Piper although they had been spotted for 69p.

Well the store I saw them in is tiny and the potatoes are the only fresh food they sell. And they were definitely eating type Maris Piper for 55p - no mistake (unless they mispriced them and changed it later as I haven't been back since).
I bought these today - they are Maris Piper and were 55p for 2kg.
Got some from Preston today 55p 2kg
down to 49p in winsford today.
