Thoughtful
All I see is that you are trying to choose products for me, which I wouldn't buy. Garlic bread is easy to make, and if I make the focaccia then it won't cost me anywhere close to £2.75 ! Believe it or not it's possible to cook all these choices at home, better, and cheaper!
fearona
Ok try the Mediterranean vegetable & pesto focaccia £2.75. when added to your £5 wine that leaves £2.25 for another side and the main. See where we are going with this (shock)
Thoughtful
Yeah I see where you're going. Making choices for me which cost a certain amount making home production for the cost impossible. How about if you don't spend the £2 on the garlic bread for me?
fearona
So that leaves £5 for the two sides and the main. The garlic bread which is excellent is £2 per pack. That leaves £3 for the mains and another side. See where we are going with this. (shock)

M&S just want to get rid of the stock ASAP, they are delighted when people turn up to the till with trolley fulls! They have new season stock arriving soon and they need the store space. If anything is left on Sunday it is boxed up and given to charity, which costs them a lot in staff pay. Ideally they'd like the store to be clear of stock within the first day of Final Clearance. Get there early and grab what you like!
reeboks
was in local m@s this morning in mens dept .all of a sudden the same people come in grab everything on racks and pile trolleys high then dump what they dont want .its just the greed society with certain types of people with no manners who spoil the sales for everyone else .M@S should inpose a MAX items limit of 10 per customer in future , that would discourage the same people camping out stores !

Yes, there had them in Victoria (Cardinal Place) but they had a lot more in the Simply M&S in Victoria Railway Station.
Fresh filled or plain pasta + fresh pasta sauce + garlic bread or salad
bemad
At this price point (£5) I find this deal is far nicer than two pasta ready meals. The pasta itself has nicer fillings (although I couldn't find the nicest - the truffle one) and - calorie watching - I only use half a tub of the sauce over the pasta which means there is half left for another meal (you can add it to just plain boiled pasta) so it really is value for money. Deal serves 2 as is bulked out with the garlic bread (the 4 thin sticks are really nice but the 6 standard pieces are good too) and so it works out at £2.50 each (with that little bonus of sauce left if you don't use it all). Can certainly recommend and have tried lots of variations in sauces/pastas.
misterleoni
These sort of sauces (in this deal) are refrigerated and intended to be dumped on to the pasta provided and stirred in, thus creating a home made pasta 😜 I don't think their intended market is people who like to use them as a base and embellish them with other additions to make them tastier.
mutley1
i don't do any cooking so i have no idea what sauces are out there. i went into waitrose a few weeks ago and was very surprised to stumble on an aisle full of all different types of sauces, so it would not surprise me if they had lamb shank sauce in there some where. my husband buys bolognese sauce when he makes bolognese but he adds other stuff into the bolognese so it tastes more delicious than a ready made bolognese that you get from the supermarket. the meal is fresh even though it is made with bolognese sauce. i think this is why people buy sauces as they can add extra stuff in when they cook to suit their taste. they can also keep the sauce for months and make the meal fresh.
misterleoni
I was just joking with the lamb shanks sauce ;) I never buy ready made sauces - I make everything from scratch if I'm 'cooking'. If I'm going to buy a ready meal it's for the absolute convenience and speed of putting a tray in an oven and setting a timer. I don't really understand how a pot of pasta sauce in a sealed plastic tub would have any less additives than a tub of pasta arrabiata in a sealed plastic carton from the same supplier - I can't help but think it's just a psychological boost that gives you the feeling you're 'making' something. M&S gets its meals built to spec by a factory so I can't see why they would choose to sling a load of unnecessary additives in one dish and not in the other, when they are stored the same way.
mutley1
i still think they add more into the ready meal than just the sauce, but would be interested to find out if this is the case. when my husband makes lamb shank, he makes the sauce himself, he doesn't buy lamb shank sauce, if one even exists that is.
