I take it you don't like the strong stuff then!

Vintage stuff. Hot

yum! thanks.

Is this found in most Waitrose stores or only in the larger stores?

so is this a stronger version of marmite?

suezygirl

so is this a stronger version of marmite?

It's basicly a normal marmite thats past it best before date, should be noted marmite can last a very long time after best before date (years), the older the marmite the stronger the taste.

Thought this was discontinued? Must be really really extra old in this case.

Beautiful stuff!

I've got some xxxo in the back of my cupboard somewhere, it's keeping the 5yr old tins of tuna company

I've still got a few tubs of unopened Guinness marmite from a good few years back, glad to know that it's still edible!

I thought this stuff was great - but then did a blind test against normal Marmite, and couldn't tell the difference.

So if you buy a jar of marmite and leave it in the cupboard until it is past its best before date it magically changes its bottle and label? Amazing.

I know this is banned in certain Countries because of the chemicals it contains, does that make it safe to eat?
Good price.

Of course it is. Those "chemicals" are in fact added vitamins. The Danes restricted sale of foods fortified with extra vitamins to licensed shops (presumably to prevent the abuse of "health" products to the gullible), and the Canadians said that at least one of the added vitamins wasn't on their "approved list of food additives".

The only chemical in Marmite I'd worry about is sodium chloride - good old table salt. 11g / 100g, which could be an issue if you eat loads of it.

Oddly enough that advert generated a lot of complaints:

It is shot in a mock-documentary style and features a voiceover by newsreader Michael Buerk. The ad has prompted outrage on social media – although there have also been many comments in support of the campaign – and by Tuesday evening the ASA had received about 250 complaints.

Marmite.... live yeast is used in the brewing of beer, in the warm sweet conditions it multiplies poos itself and dies, it is then screened out and processed into Marmite I love it, but if you think that's bad...have you heard what Quorn is made of? well have you ever seen a furry turd? well that type of fungal growth is spun into fibers and made to look like meat/mince. I love that too!..... which just goes to prove we eat some right old s*%t but Mo seems to go well on it.
