''Marmite lovers are in for a treat as an extra strong version of the spread goes on sale on Monday in Tesco stores nationwide.

Priced at £3.99 for a 250g jar, Marmite XO (extra old) has been matured for 28 days – four times longer than the classic version – giving it a “more intense, full-bodied taste”, according to its maker Unilever.''

Marmite never goes ‘off’ unless you keep dipping the mucky knife back into the pot when you spread.
It only has a Best Before, not a date of expiry - the high salt content isn’t conducive to the growth of bacteria.
Had a giant pot of Marmite Gold in the cupboard since 2014, using a clean implement to serve, I’ve yet to succumb to any lurgie...
Even thinking about it, my mum probably has jars old enough to drive a car.
(She hates the stuff, I left home donkeys ago, like all good mums - she doesn’t throw anything away.)

Love this stuff. It's about time it was back.
Never tried but will now thank you ! You think the haters will hate this more ?
Better value than a halloumi burger.

No, maturation with yeasts I anticipate.
Sorry folks, nothing is as good as cold smoked marmite, then "matured" for a year minimum in the original jar ...that's the BEAST of all marmites,
I've got a few different woods going at the moment & its going to be another year before I find out how they turned out compared to the stuff I've been eating fora few years.
love it or hate it !

Sounds a bit obsessive
Marmite deal for sure
Really a deal, or just full price?

Wine, whisky, cheese all scams.

I assume the conditions in which they mature the marmite are a bit different to keeping it in a cupboard.
This is good for making beer...

Kindest regards

No problem wongy, unfortunately my gif got deleted as it was inappropriate
Tbh I think the own brand supermarket versions have a stronger taste. I prefer those these days myself.
