one thing to note is that these discs will most likely be locked to Region A so not easily playable on a UK region B player

Also a customs charge

Great set though, really want it

This seems to sell via major channels at £130+ used, so even with a potential VAT & admin charge hit, the OPs £80+ represents a decent deal assuming your player can handle region A/1.

Using xe.com's exchange rate (couldn't get Amazon.com to display a non-mobile site on IE), it works out at £98.93 delivered via the Amazon pre-pay option.

Edit: For those that don't know about that, you pay the import fees up front and therefore don't get hit by the Royal Mail charge or an unwelcome bill before they release your package. There's also a small chance that, if customs don't look at the package, you get the charge refunded a month or so later.

Man, the geek inside me would have loved a UK version of this. But with region A discs and imports charges I'd have to pass

I have this, its region free and i got hit £32 customs charges but i was happy to pay it,cost me about £120 including all charges last month although i have not opened yet

Last two eBay auctions have ended for £107 and £104, so might be a bit north on your estimate.

£83 from the US could attract more customs/import fees as stated, personally, Id go for the eBay auction (when another is listed)

Note, the last one (6th July) was listed as Region Free

I ordered from amazon.ca when it was cheaper than amazon.us,ordered Saturday despatched Sunday and on my doorstep in Northern Ireland on Wednesday

With caveats, I would consider the ebay option as suggested, although I would exclude ebay private sellers from previously indicated "major channels".
Appreciate the confirmation (although Amazon state "Region A/1 !).

I have the U.S blu ray of the Avengers and its region free and two minutes googling will tell you they are region free

FYI if you order this with the Amazon Global Expedited shipping option you pay an Import fee deposit up front which is £17.12, making this £102.71 with quicker shipping and no worries of being stung on import duties by Royal Mail. Plus these are definitely region free.
