    If you own the digital version of the PS4 version, you should be able to do it online as long as you are signed in. If you own the disc, then it will have to be done on the PS5 with the disc inserted into the console.

    This would be free on XBOX. So by default you can't play PS4 games you bought on the PS5? Of course you surely can.

    This is remastered version. What games have xbox remastered for you and given for free? This is not just 60fps free patch like they did with last of us 2, days gone etc

    Yes (assuming you also have a PS5). The upgrade offer pops up on the PS menu when the disc is inserted.

    No, its PS5 only. All DLC is incorporated in to the main game, no DLC codes or anything that can be separated from the main game.

    An upgrade from the base game to the PS5 remaster gives you additional DLC plus obviously the remastered version:


    Why should that be free? If you don't want to pay for extra stuff then stick with the backwards compatibility?

    I paid £40ish for the ultimate edition as I wanted the remastered but didn’t think it would be released stand alone. No complaints though, enjoyed both games and the remastered version looks fantastic.

    Buy a used physical PS4 copy from CEX for £10 before they realise this upgrade path exists and then put the price up. Then spend the £5 to upgrade.

    For those who don't know, this is an epic game to play on the ps5 and story is brilliant.

    Make sure you play the DLC as this then leads to Miles Morales which is a sequel to this.

    Spiderman 2 aka the 3rd entry is coming out soon

    Awesome. Grabbed a copy of the base PS4 game from eBay for £7.50 delivered.
    Will pick up Miles nearer the release of SM2.

    Took Sony long enough to do this. Hated that it was stuck behind the Ultimate Edition of Miles, which even now, never seems to go below £40, at best.

    Even though this is a great deal, I felt disappointed that the people who bought the original, day 1 (not the GOTY edition), didn't get a free upgrade. It was already out for sometime by the time Miles Morales came out, so I don't know why. People will say, developers deserve their pay for extra development, but this isn't a charity case... I already payed for the game when it released, they released a GOTY, they even gave people a season pass option, more and more money they're making, then Miles Morales came out, Ultimate Edition with both games was also a thing too. I think the gaming industry is disgusting at the moment.

    For those curious. I don't own a PS5. Only a PS4. I bought this digtially in 2018. And via the Playstation website (found by clicking get deal here). It let me buy the upgrade for £5.

    I will be buying the PS5 when the slim comes out in September and this will likely be waiting to pay as my very first game.

    Even though I still think Spiderman remaster should've been a free PS5 upgrade, I still had to take advantage of this deal. £5 for an excellent game, with all it's DLC added, is really good value. Looking forward to some day trying out the DLC, maybe when the backlog ain't massive anymore lol.
