Cheaper than Origin(unless you have ea access in which case it is free). No DLC but then the DLC dor the first one wasn't particularly good.

Someone made a controller mod for this so I thought I'd pick it up to try it out in 4k ahead of the Andromeda release.

HD texture mod(it's huge! 4.3gb texture upgrade for a 7.7gb game)

Heat just for those links - always wanted to play the trilogy on PC but was put off having to faff about with getting a controller to work. Thanks

a steal if never played it. amazing game

I have just spent the last week replaying the trilogy (currently on ME3) on PC with the HD texture packs and the controller support in 4K and it is a thing of beauty.

These are still great games and this is well worth £1.99, as for the DLC Bring down the Sky is free here and is really the only DLC from the first game worth playing anyway.

Just an FYI my steam code does not work on Origin saying it is invalid but I didn't really care.

Thanks. It will probably be a little while before I even make it on to 2 but any mods you recommend?

The ones I've seen are:

Mass Effect 2
texture mod
controller mod
shorter loading screen animations

Mass Effect 3
controller mod

but me3 has multiple texture mods...
nexusmods.com/mas…116
nexusmods.com/mas…363

So this can be played with no need for origin?

Best storyline out of the MA imo.
Well worth buying

Yeah ME1 is the best one by far

For ME1 I used:
ME1Controller
Mass Effect Updated/Improved Textures Mod (MEUITM)
Faster Elevators
No Intro Videos Fix
Quick Startup

For ME2 I used:
A Lot Of Textures (ALOT) for ME2
Shorter loadings (animated - new version)
Quick Startup
ME2Controller
Increased Maximum Fuel and Probes
No MiniGames

The last two are kind of cheaty but as I have played the game about a dozen times before I was fine with less of the grind.

As for ME3 I am using:
A Lot Of Textures (ALOT) for ME3
SinglePlayer Native Controller Support Mod
Interface Scaling Add-On
Press Start Screen Remover
higher military strength

Again the last one is a bit of a cheat which doubles the war effort score so that you don't need to do the multi-player or iOS stuff to get the galaxy ready for war (without this you get 50% removed from your readiness score) I had to manually make the changes to the coalesced.bin file as the controller mod changes this file as well.

Possibly but the step up in gameplay on 2 is incredible. I personally preferred 2, but that might be because of the warmth I felt for the crew.

Everytime i see mass effect I add heat! My favourite games ever. Bargain price!

i have completed all three. but do they have 4k textures for knights of the old Republic or something like that? well not 4k. i only have 1080p but an rx 470 on its way! (gtx 750ti at moment)

Credit to the devs they added a patch for the 10 year anniversary for 4k,controller and steam workshop support.
steamcommunity.com/gam…181

No texture updates though. Not sure if it would benefit massively given the low poly models? There are some individual character hd mods on steam workshop.

If you do replay it get this mod from steam workshop:
steamcommunity.com/sha…xt=

It apparently adds back a lot of content that was cut from the original PC and fixes a lot of bugs. I haven't got around to playing it yet. It's on a very long backlog list

jameshothothot asked about KOTR so I linked to some info for that. Thanks for checking the link anyway

How the heck did you finish MA trilogy in a week? I'm playing my second round and it's taken me 40 hours of gameplay to just about complete MA1 and half of MA2!

HOT - One of the greatest games ever.

Well I haven't actually finished them as I'm still playing ME3 but I was off work for a week and wasn't feeling very well so I pretty much spent most of my time playing Mass Effect.

I played ME1 for 36 hours and ME2 for 52 hours (it was more like 10 days than a week) and I have just finished
Tuchanka
in ME3 so still a while to go with that one but I'm still loving it. I really hope they recapture the magic with Andromeda.

Any advice around starting out with trying to mod ME3? I was interested but it looks daunting even if I've got reasonable experience tinkering around inside files

The easiest way to start modding ME3 is with the Mass Effect 3 Mod Manager. You will need this if you want to install the controller mod and the Interface scaling mod. Once you have installed the mod manager you just need to drag and drop the compatible mod files into the tool and let it apply the mod for you.

Applying the texture upgrades is a little more complicated and it can seem daunting at first but it is actually very easy. You will need to use ME3Explorer to apply the new textures and it can take a long time but it's not that hard. I watched this tutorial before starting and it made it a lot more understandable.

The coalesced.bin file in \Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\CookedPCConsole is an important file when tweaking and you can use the Wench Coalesced editor to change a lot of settings. I used this to manually tweak the war asset scores as the controller mod changes the coalesced.bin file a lot and you do not want to over write this file or the controller will not work properly (if you are using a controller that is).

That's pretty much all I did to mod ME3. I think if you have those 3 tools you should be good to go.

I would recommend working out which mods you want to use and get them working before applying the texture mod as this should be the very last thing you do as it may need to update files applied by other mods. Finally launch the game from the ME3 Mod manager as some of these mods may stop the game launching if you don't.
