What's the current state of this game?

I picked it up at launch but it was completely riddled with glitches, gutting as I loved all the other games in the series.

If it's been patched up to a more playable state I might jump back into it.

When I played it a couple of years ago all the bugs had gone. But it isn't as good as the trilogy. The story is lacking and a lot of the gameplay feels like aimless wandering around. That said, for this price it's definitely worth a play

Well as someone who spent ALOT of time with this game I have to say I had alot of fun with it! It's true to say it's not as good as the original games but in it's own right it is a very good game! The story is definitely the weakest point that is true however the game mechanics and some of the locations are drop dead gorgeous! It's such a beautiful game it just feels a bit disjointed in parts and the quests are a bit dull. It does kind of make up all it's failings with some really nice set pieces and its frenetic gameplay. It's such a shame as if it was given a bit more time in development it could have been a solid 8 out of ten, I would rate it a respectable 6.5 out of 10 almost a seven just misses out for the lacklustre story, poor animation in parts and generic bad guy.

I recently replayed the trilogy after completing Andromeda again and I much preferred Andromeda!
The gameplay, combat and scope are far superior to Shepherd's romp across the galaxy.

Also, it gets panned for not being as good as a trilogy. You can't compare it to three fully fleshed out RPG games. If it spawned two sequels, it would have had the same level of creativity and content as the first. It deserved DLC!

That's fair enough. Mine was just my opinion! I'm happy for you to have yours!

I was just giving an alternate viewpoint to what seems to be the general consensus.
Yours is very much the opinion of the majority, but a lot of people (not saying you) tried the game before the bug fixes and still slate the game ignorantly. It riles me.

Or maybe I root for the underdog too often, he writes loading up his PlayStation with Fallout 76.
My issue with this game is that it left its original audience behind, for better or worse.

I was 24-29 when the OG trilogy was released, and Shepard is 29 in ME1 and no more than 31-32 by ME3. I could relate to the characters directly. Aspirationally want to be in that world -In that crew. I was of that generation.

Now I'm nearer 40 than 30, and Andromeda's characters are barely out of their teens. This team is much younger than Shepard's crew, and I feel like it's targeting a new audience. A younger one. I no longer relate to the emotions, the drama, post-teen angst, and so it feels alienating.

On the surface doing this makes a lot of sense, until you realise that the most successful franchise reboot/ sequels take their audience with them - make allowances for that gap and try to bridge it. See Gears of War 4, God of War, Metal Gear Solid, Max Payne, The Witcher 3, Assassins Creed (Ezio trilogy) etc etc.

This is a very good game for the price, but it's not the world or characters that OG fans were invested in. It's hard to pretend you're in your 20s again
