B&Q, why pay less?

Why pay for a house and mortgage when you can have a £65.90 massive party tent and a chemical toilet?

buy one and rent it out

Don't like the install warning on the site - they make it clear that if anything breaks they will claim it is 'user abuse' (couldn't possibly be a poorly made part) - I may be reading too much into it but sounds like these are a bit flimsy. Obviously up to the buyer but read the warning section on the ebay advert.

Edit: states not to use overnight or if windy or raining and that it needs multiple people to put up - so you have to take it down at night or if it rains, and the point of this is????

These are cheap quality rubbish. Had a similar one to this before (smaller size). Lasted for one season and started ripping at the seams, and the frame started bucklingand loosing form

I'd buy from B&Q, that way you can take it back when it breaks.

It seems the only conditions they suggest you use this one in are ones where you don't actually need a gazebo :|.

I went through a succession of cheap B&Q Gazebos for 2/3rds of a season motorbike racing - mostly 3x3m pop up ones, but we also got this one for one meeting where I had a lot of people along.
It was a bit windy and wet, but it just about kept us dry for the weekend.
Sadly the popup ones weren't massively better and rarely last more than one meeting - but as it was B&Q, you could just take it back and get a replacement.

We had to exchange 3 of these from B&Q, all within the same week of trying to put one up. We hadn't managed to put one up because each one was damaged straight out of the box (returned the next day). B&Q only agreed to exchange because we hadn't erected one yet, meaning we hadn't used it or abused the operating instructions as it wind, rain etc.

The lady at B&Q said if I had used it and brought it back weeks later saying its damaged, then I would not be able to have a refund or exchange unless I could prove it was damaged before erecting it (not sure how that would stand regarding my consumer rights) but you could see their point............... I'm glad the 3rd one was ok. and YES! you do have to abide by the user instructions when using these Marquees.

So I would seriously only want to pay as little as possible for one of these, certainly not £99.

Buying from ebay you will still have the option of ebay and PayPal buyer protection, £65 is a steel,

As I say - that wasn't my experience.

I'd prefer to take my chances with "I'd like to speak to a manager", than the paypal processes, whereby I believe they can request you send it back.

And I think your example kind of proves the point for me - if you try and get a refund because it's already damaged before you put it up, do you think the seller is going to say "here, have another one". I think they're going to fight it.

cheap rubbish . , don't expect quality for this sort of money . if you need a decent marquee for a special occasion i would advise hiring one .

These cheaper Marquees or Large Gazebo's are designed for that very reason, CHEAP! They are not commercial grade quality and they don't imitate that they are. Basically its 3 regular size Gazebo's put together all in a line with fancy windows, once put together correctly they do certainly look impressive.

They are ideal for regular home use, parties at short notice, lending to family members, long days away camping or use at an event. Used correctly and not abused and left out in high winds and heavy rain, then these Gazebo's do certainly carry value and great enjoyment for all the family. Not many people want to pay expensive hire costs a dozen times a year. X)

We will soon be putting ours up this summer for our daughters Birthdays, ideal for all their crazed friends to booze about singing and passing out in. oO X)

I'm still confused as to why you actually need a Gazebo if it's not windy, rainy or night time?
Those being the normal reasons to use one.

Seems you'd do as well without it - at least you've got less to pack away if the weather does turn.

[edit]Just realised I'd forgotten the one day of sunny summer we've got left for this year - though, the no-wind thing might spoil it.
Suncream is probably cheaper :).

You aren't serious are you, do you live a sheltered life ? X)

I will explain for you............
A Marquee adds decoration to any event...................... are you that stupid ?

The UK does have HOT summer days where any event will need an area of gathering to keep guests sheltered from the heat, food is essential to stay cool.

Adds decoration to Birthday Parties, Weddings, Outdoor Disco's, Celebrations, Fun Raising, Car/Bike Motor-Sports events, exhibitions.

Used as a.......
Focal point to serve drinks.
Focal point to serve food.
Focal point to sell merchandise.
Seating area to stay cool.
Social area, to gather.
Games area, to entertain.
Dance area, day or night.
Stage area, Music, Band etc.

Marquess are not always used to shelter people from wind and rain (that would make it a large umbrella) its more of a decoration and social area which adds to the enjoyment of the event.

.............. anyone else want to add to this discussion.

Yes, but Hot sunny days where if it turns a bit windy you lose your shelter and everything else that relies on it.

As for decoration - lol.
Maybe if it actually looked good, rather than just 'cheap'.

If I had some money to add decoration to an event, this isn't how I'd spend it!
No way I'd use one of these to sell anything, never mind as a stage area.
I've worked on festival stalls as well as spending a few months (when totalled) worth bit of time using a variety of Gazebos motorcycle racing. No way I'd use one of these for something that 'mattered'.

So we all know that you wouldn't buy one, and we all know if you did buy one, you would buy from B&Q........ or you did buy one from B&Q and you took it back just as I did which brings me to my original comment...... Don't pay £99 from B&Q. X)

Remember this. It is up to the SELLER to prove that its your fault in the first six months for any fault. After 6 months, it's up to you (the buyer) to prove its the seller at fault.

Also, prove means to prove. NOT accuse.

We have one. Paid about £60 from Argos a few years ago. It's done 2 18ths and a number of other parties. It's good. It stayed up for a week one year in the rain. It's not in perfect condition now but it's still useable. When your house can't take an extra 20 people it comes in handy. Heat from me.

last a day at most

And this still puzzles me why you'd say that.
When you've said you had to return the exact same product (I'm presuming you're not claiming this seller has better quality stock) twice before you got one that worked, yet you're telling people to buy from the place that will not only be difficult to return to due to being delivered, but that makes it clear in the advert that they will fight anyone trying to return it!

Do you purposely practice to be difficult ? why are you so bitter over a simple Marquee, do you work for B&Q ?

Members and non members looking at this deal who wants one of these Gazebo/Marquees, they don't need to pay £99.00 from B&Q. There are many sellers and shop sellers selling these 9x3m Marquees on ebay for around £65, I posted this deal for that reason so people could SAVE money, its that simple.

Now! go and be a troll somewhere else please.
