Same charger as this one hotukdeals.com/tag/dea…545 but in black.

5v 1a output - good enough for most mobile phones

Good price shame it only has 1 USB outlet

Only one amp output. It is a 13 amp style mains plug, but it won't draw that or provide it at 5 volts.

Will be slow for some (most) tablets as only 1A, Ipads and Nexus 7 need 2A for a decent timed charge

A good safe charger for those devices that only require 1A. Heat

You think 2A chargers are unsafe?

I'm saying this is a safe charger, and the charger is good for 1A devices. Decent 2A chargers aren't unsafe http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-rolleyes003.gif

Should say 1A output in the title

Can someone explain why the cable I bought off ebay barely charges my phone? It is a 3m one, if I bought another one what do I need to look for?

cheap cable, cheaply manufactured, i stick to anker ones, around £7 a cable but I think they are worth it.

So its cold because it doesnt fit your purpose?
Loon

Probably no good for me as 2A output is needed for my devices but, for the price, worth keeping in the drawer

Like brainbug100 said, cheap cables are naff. Length can have a factor in it too, I'd stick to 2m cables if possible. That said there are cheap cables which can work flawlessly, but they're hard to come by. It's very hit and miss.

I recently got a cheapy from eBay and it works perfect, and I went back and ordered 3 more, just so I can have some when needed.

Agree, been stung so many times on buying cheap cables! Stick to branded ones now - that's branded from a reputable supplier as well, a lot of companies are being caught out by fakes these days.

I got some of these recently - they charge my phone while using GPS, my HP Touchpad (5.3V charger - very picky about cables) and run a Raspberry Pi without low voltage warnings

amazon.co.uk/Ank…20/

More expensive then eBay cheapos, but worth it.

Someone needs to have taken this one apart to see whether it contains decent components for the USB part

good deal, just ordered one to collect tomorrow. heat added. thanks

++ For Anker products, I've never been disappointed!

PortaPow cables are supposed to be good:

ebay.co.uk/itm…AIT

Good price from a proper seller unlike dodgy ones from the far east which can be dangerous. Don't ever ever buy any mains charger off ebay. You just can't afford to take the risk. Have a look at what was shown on watchdog and fake britain.

Thin cable gives more resistance than thick cable. So the power is dropping off before it reaches your phone.

There's nothing wrong with this charger, it works perfectly well. I found two of them in the sale bucket at Tesco for £1.25 each. They were in Tesco branded packs but they are actually branded Masterplug when you remove them from the packaging

They work just as well as chargers 4 times the price and Masterplug is a well known brand. They're more than adaquate for charging smart phones.
