Saw these yesterday as I've been looking for some extension/double plugs and they where still £1.19 in the Colliers Wood store

"awaits the,how dangerous these are comments"

not worth it? Safety first! Spend a few pence more and put the everyone's safety first

These are great. You can stack upto 10 of these for loads of extra sockets! :-)

Only dangerous if used badly. A lot of fires are started by these being knocked loose due to weight of everything plugged in and causing shorts. I'd only use them where they're visible, on a worktop for example. I carry a three prong one for travelling as hotels never have enough convenient sockets.

I use one of these in the front room and I get round the weight issue by sellotaping it to the wall once I get all the plugs where I want. The tape stops it pulling out of the socket - voted hot!

Last time a similar deal was posted there were a fair few people commenting that they shouldn't be used because they were dangerous with kids around etc etc

isn't that a double socket though? Plugs are what you put into sockets surely?:?

invested in some belkins a few years back when they were cheap and wouldnt go back.

These things aren't intrinsically dangerous. How on earth would you trip over one? And even if they do get pulled out of the wall, so what? All you will do is lose power. I think people associate these with the old adverts about bad wiring - that showed double plugs overloaded with electric fires that had old frayed leads pulling loose from the plug etc etc. In a modern home with modern wiring they are fine, and if your wiring is dodgy anyway, a double plug is the least of your worries.

If these were dangerous they would have been banned yonks ago, like those extensions you used to be able to plug into a light socket... blimey I'm showing my age now...

Obviously built to British Kite mark standard.

Absolute steal for this price.

H&R

Be careful of the outside world then.. much more dangerous out there than one of these sticking out of your wall.

Maybe you should put your family in a padded room.

7p is just crazy, must have to ell a million of em to even think of making money lol

It could possibly be pulled out partially leaving a live connection. I know fire brigade's don't like them but if they're used sensibly then all is well. Best not to have two 1960's 3 bar electric fires plugged in to it as well.

We had to remove all these from out work place as they were classified as dangerous. As long as they are used sensibly and not over loaded they should be fine.

If you get the fire service round to do a house safety check (and get them to fit some smoke alarms) first thing they will do is tell you to get rid of double plugs and change them for the strip 'gang' extensions, in some cases even giving you some free just so you change them!

Oh and sometimes they will even give you a deep fat fryer if you say you do your chips in the saucepan!

I cant see the problem, if they start a fire or something then just pour water on them and the fire is out - job done!

So for an investment of 7p and a 999 phone call I could get a four gang socket extension and a deep fat fryer for free? How is this not a bargain?:w00t:

If the Firemen are hot that's a bonus in itself:p

deffo get hot, but not from me

If it has the BSI Kitemark, then the only risk is the user & how they use it

Why isn't this a million degrees? 7p for a double plug? Not the most romantic of items but most of us have them or have used them. Awesome deal but it proves the limitation of the voting system on HUKD. HOT, a total Hot UK Deal.

These are not dangerous. Full stop. They are actually very good quality with tightly fitting sockets.
I mean come on just take a look behind most peoples TV sets and you'll see spaghetti junction and a mass of sockets and wires daisy chained!!

Some quality comments on here.

I mean someone logged in and posted about these being called "double plugs" instead of perhaps a "2-way UK standard socket extender in amonia white with brass and black 25mm trident positioned plugs"!

What am I doing...get a life wazi

ANYWAY this is definitely a HOT UK Deal....

wow wazi awsome post . cant go wrong with British kite mark
top stuff !!!!!!!

I had a free fire saftey check, and all the fireman told me to throw out my multi plugs. The guy said they have been trying to gety them banned for years as they are not safe!!
They overload the plug scocket.

Apparantly we are one of the few euro countries that still sell them, banned everywhere else.

If you ever go to a DIY/hardware shop in France or Spain you'll realize that statement is not true...

Hot, although i use a 3 way switched one.

Nothing dangerous about these at all. And Masterplug are one of the big names, better than some no brand ones in the likes of poundland and other cheapo electrical stores.

How can they overload the socket?
They are fused at 13amps the same as extension leads and the same as plugs.
