Just bought a house which is quite a bit bigger than the previous... just got the first electric bill!!! Thought I'd look for something like this to help reduce the bills!! Oh and be more environmentally friendly to ;-)

This seemed like a good price to me, wasn't sure whether it was a good deal when I was in there today so I didn't buy one, looked on internet just now and seems like its a good price...

Apologies if I got this wrong, but I think I will pick a couple up, and thought it might help some others...

Err, how exactly does this save you money?! It just means you can turn things off when you don't use them doesn't it?....something you can already do!

Would have been better putting the £16 towards your electric bill

Its a bit like driving 10miles to save 1p a litre in fuel

Yes save the enviroment less CO2

But as for money saving pointless would need to use it over 10 years to break even on the money you save.(guessitmate i cant be arsed to do the maths, but you know what i meen)

The only thing i would get this for is for hooking all the electronics onto, hide somewhere with the remote and wait for other people to start watching TV and keep turning it on and off.

yeah, for me its the convenience factor as well... in that I can plug everything in, put it behind the TV stand and quickly switch it off before going out etc... may not be for everyone, I accept that but it is the best price around...

Then i would grab it off you and shove it where the sun doesnt shine

Best thing to do for saving money on your electricity bill is do what I have been doing for years. I have got my meter rigged so as the wheel does not go round. I only let it spin one week a month and the rest of the time it does not. It is so easy to do and keeps your bills very low. My house is like an oven during the winter so much so I have to switch the aircon on to cool it down for a while. Never mind all these fancy gadgets to keep your bills down just do that and it will save you a fortune.

i'm sure british/scottish gas are giving these away for free to the elderly!

only difference, you use your tv remote to switch it on/off

you can get two remote control sockets for about £5 in supermarkets when on offer. Two 6 gang extenstions for a a couple of quid each.

so a saving of around £25 over buying two of these!

These are good but be clear that all of the sockets turn off at the same time not individualy, the remote control is capable of turning off several units hence so many buttons. They have been on here before when i bought 2, argos clearance through ebay sold 400 at £6.99 delivered which have now sold out but on that info i would have a good look around to be happy with prices. Well, not quite; this is the surge protector type, & they are not that cheap.

I also has the advantage of having a couple of sockets that do NOT turn off, so is more flexible.

I have one of the British Gas freebie ones, not that different to this and the flexibility is useful as Sat Box & a PVR doesn't get turned off when the others do, that would require me to use a separate surge protected unit and another mains socket to achieve the same end result.
