As with anything from Argos which is "Half Price", take with a pinch of salt...

That said, great item, reasonable price.

This is just what I.needed at xmas! might get one now for next year thanks
Internally circa 9.5cm deep which may not be sufficient to accommodate certain plug-based power adaptors and still allow full closure of lid, esp considering circa 1cm is "stolen" by the 4-way extension block (happened to me at Christmas when attempting to use this item to protect mains-powered external lights).

Can you expand on that please as just reserved one as the reviews seem to say it is
just snip the 12v adapter off and plug in to a normal socket, LEDs are fine at 230v

or

install a 12v transformer at your fuse box and run a new ring mains for any outdoor lighting.
Ta, ordered 2.
good find PF , heat added

That's not right.
The five is fine but ideally you want 6. The 4 is ok as it means its protected from water in all directions. Personally I would go 65.... one mo.....

Aldi have these on clearance at the moment (store specific) for £14.99 and include a timer and RCD.
I picked up the same with rcd and timer from aldi for 9.99 a few weeks ago.
Basically these are a weatherproof ( not Waterproof) plastic box with an extension lead that just clips inside, Cable for the extension lead is quite thick so you need to work out how to get that outside . also be wary if your using it for Christmas lights that your lights Adaptor plug is not to chunky to close the actual weatherproof box. For the price they seem ok, but don't think they are worth the full asking price thou.
Bought one of these this time last year when on offer, haven't used it as yet thou.As always on this site easy to grab the deals even thou you don't really want or need the product, and this sites supposed to save me money
Please be aware that these are not waterproof! If you are thinking of leaving it outside exposed to rain...forget it.
I was looking at them the other day at a wholesalers as I needed some waterproof ones, luckily I read the small print, and so did not buy.

These are weatherproof if fitted correctly.
mine was fine all xmas with lots of rain and xmas lights... don't know what you guys are on about. if my mrs put it together it would have been full of water... but she didn't I did.

You can't submerge in water, but... what are you guys expecting for £10, its worth it for the extension lead along at 8m
Ordered 2more... More xmas lights next year ... thanks
Weatherproof perfectly describes something that is going to be left in the rain open to the elements.

Waterproof is something that is going to be submerged in water so not for those up North.
Why would you need one? surely things you'd need a weatherproof extension for would be electric and so wouldn't use in the rain and if it werent raining you could use a normal extension.
Outside lights but thats all I can think of im sure theres lots of uses also
anyone know if there is something similar that can take 16 amps. planning to use it for EV charging

I had one of these outside under a slatted garden bench for some outside lighting.

After a couple of months the lights stopped working and when I went to investigate the sockets were sitting in a pool of water!

It would seem that the lip where the box closes is not watertight and the box did not come with any form of gasket to create a seal.

I would recommend a DriBox instead, these have overhanging lids which goes a long way towards preventing the leaks experienced with this one.

I have several DriBoxes and they have actually stayed dry.
ha the dribox is also £9.99 20% off at moment and is described as waterproof nice

These have a gasket on the lid. If you've not mounted the box on a flat surface or not taken care when closing the lid, that's your own fault. These are excellent for what they are. You're giving people poor information. Also, use the fixing holes already in the box, as drilling the back of the box compromises the integrity of the IP rating.

I am not giving poor information - I am giving a factual account of the box which I purchased, which did not come with any gasket.

Perhaps it was faulty or the design has since been changed to rectify possible faults.

Those boxes mentioned above being waterproof are great for "one connection" but they don't have space or a 4 way extension or include one for that matter this masterplug does, why worry about whether something works, just take peoples word for it, if you set it up correctly and follow instructions it does what it says on the tin. I do not need mine to be water proof as I am not mounting mine in a pond, just hanging on the wall or lay down carefully but not in a puddle/ lake. The extension lead alone is almost worth £10, when you have a party and a bouncy castle or two, etc these are perfect, great for xmas lights and great for trickle charging bikes/ cars/ caravans batterys etc in spurious locations. Also great when washing the car in the rain with power washer. The usefulness of them just goes on and reduces risk significantly. Yes there are better products but certainly not a better value for money all rounder. They are even kiddyproof, if you just don't want the kids messing with sockets or spilling drinks on them behind TVs or better still around the back of desks where you do have drinks maybe etc. etc, etc
This is £7.49 now, a complete bargain at that price!!! I bought one of these at full price before Christmas and found it to be excellent, bone dry despite all the bad weather, they have a robust rubber gasket and as others have said if you install it properly its a great product.
