Why bother buying anything on HD-DVD now though? It's not like you're going to have that HD-DVD player taking up space sitting next to the TV in 5 years time, well not if you want any new releases.

I suppose HD-DVD players still play normal DVDs? That makes more sense to keep it.

You suppose right. They make very good SD upscalers.

I use a multi drive in a HTPC that's no where near my tv, and play everything from HD-DVD, Blu-Ray to Xvid & MKV etc on it and the only thing visible in my living room is the sky box.

My machine is excellent at uprating DVDs. As for your five years from now comment, that would probably go for bluray too as they are wanting to push for downloads. I like something tangible though, but blu needs to compete with DVD now if they want to survive. In my entire town only 8 titles on sale in the high street.

Good price for 300. Ordered.
