Reserve and collect - its out of stock to buy online

Good price, although one review said it doesn't come with a mains adaptor...:w00t: Not entirely sure if that is true, but it doesn't say much on the actual product listing..

If that IS the case then consider that most DAB radios eat batteries and usually take the C or D types, so you may want to think about getting a good lot of rechargeables with it too!

It definetly comes with a mains adaptor

I got one of these at christmas ,and yes it does come with a mains adaptor, its a cracking buy at that price and i mostly listen to a few stations that are normally only on MW , but on this set they are crystal clear although dont expect the volume to blow your windows in.

Heat added.

hi any one no the size???

Very good price.
It's worth noting, however, that one of the newspapers earlier this week was predicting the end of DAB in the not too distant future.
A number of DAB only stations have gone bust and other stations aren't seeing a return on their investment and are considering pulling out.

Great price and I got one reserved for pickup in Perth. According to another review it has FM as well and comes with a mains adaptor!

Available In Currys Cardiff

Unit 1 & 2 Culverhouse Retail Park Port Road Cardiff West CF5 6XL

Anyone know what this radio is like on battery life (and what it takes)? I've got a Robert's in the bathroom and it eats a set of 6 batteries every month.

Ah, just read a couple of reviews. no preset stations so it's a non starter.

Heat and Rep added, Been looking for a cheapo DAB for the workshop, Cheers

The BBC and the bigger independent stations will carry on, which is the main point. The advantage of DAB is more for those stations which do not broadcast on FM. Sound quality-wise FM > DAB> MW. If some of the smaller stations are going bust, then they are either too niche or not providing anything better than the more established stations to compete. No reason to panic. Stations go bust all of the time.

anyone no if this takes batterys if so which and how many

cheers

That's odd because there are two reviews here ...

reevoo.com/rev…100

... which firstly contradict that it comes with a power lead which people have stated it does come with one and and the fact that it has 10 presets which it states on the website? Not sure what is going on there. !

Rob

Unfortunately DAB will become a thing of the past sooner than people think.DAB+ will become the new standard thus making any existing DAB sets useless.
Pure have just released 2 radios which are DAB+ upgradable and by the end of next year will be making most of there range upgradable.
DAB+ radios will be backwards compatible but existing DAB radios will not be able to pick up DAB+ transmissions.
Ofcom have said that it is "inevitable" that the UK will switch to DAB+ at some point, and Channel 4 are keen to switch to DAB+ as soon as practically possible.
Personally I would not spend too much money on a DAB radio and as for the stereo/mono
argument most DAB stations broadcast in mono anyway as they only have limited bandwidth.
The manufacturers seem to be keeping pretty quiet about this.
Try googling DAB+ and read for yourselves.

great post uzi9mm -- couldnt have summarised it better myself!!!

can anyone confirm if it has an alarm clock function or not?

DT, it a radio and a £15 radio at that not an alarm clock :whistling:

Everything you need to know about digital radio. digitalradiotech.co.uk/dab…htm

I've got one of these. It's worth about £14.50 !

:-DJust bought one.
Currys price in store is the same as resrve & collect price.
8 FM presets plus 8 DAB presets.
Measures approx 20cm wide x 17cm high (to top of fixed handle) x 7cm deep.
Picked up 27 digital channels compared to 19 on an Alba DAB radio in the same location.
FM reception is far superior to the Alba set.
Voted HOT!

I've just got one for my parents and it does the job for £15. It does come with a power supply and it takes 6 x C sized batteries.
Even if they turn off DAB for DAB+ we've still got FM ;-)

Rob

Nice little radio for 15 quid - good looking, sound quality (FM & DAB) fine - great for picnics / beach / poolside. Voted hot.

Instructions say 'Plug in your headphone, and you can listen to the DAB radio station in stereo'

Just picked one up from Wakefield Westgate, wanted one for the bathroom (using batteries of course) and gone through various cheap nasty shower radios that sound like the dj is in a crisp packet, for £15.00 well worth the money. Virgin on DAB is very good to sing along to in the shower. Thanks for the post. Voted hot.

Hi,

Just picked mine up, not bad at all really, perfect for the privy, :whistling:

I was going to get some rechargeable batteries but this link convinced me not to.

If you don't want to pay that for batteries try using AA batteries with the sleeves to adapt them to C or D it is a cheeaper option

I echo what hampsthw8 says - I use AA rechargeables with C adapter sleeves . You can get these from Maplins for a couple of quid for 4. I have been using "instant" 2100mAh rechargeables about £5 for 4.

I did a reserve & collect on this and picked it up this morning. It is in my local store at £24.99. For £14.99 it is a great wee radio - reception the same as my Pure One. Rep added - hot.
