A surprisingly tactical game and very tricky to master. Works best with 4 or 2 but can be played with 3.

Available on ebay from a UK business seller for same price

Stake your claim and protect your territory with Blokus game! There's just one rule: each piece you play must touch at least one other piece of the same colour, but only at the corners! It takes less than a minute to learn but has depth to challenge your whole family. Each player gets a set of 21 pieces - red, blue, green, or yellow - then takes turns placing them on the board. The goal is to fit the most pieces on the board. The game ends when no one can place any more pieces. Everyone counts the squares in their unplayed pieces and the player with the lowest score wins! Easy to learn and great for families, Blokus is the fast-paced strategy game that delivers "One Rule, Endless Possibilities!" Ages 7 and older

What difference does it make to the gameplay? Does it taste the same?

It's the same argument that people give for lego vs lepin/legoing on Aliexpress. Completely up to you but the fakers are not putting any of the investment into developing games. May also be substandard quality.
Should play exactly the same but I prefer the real thing

£10.79 NEW on ebay: maybe less if I could be bothered to check the list.

Not for the official one, its a fake if its the one I saw
Great game. Basic rules are simple enough for my 5 year old to play, but it can get much more tactical.

The quality of the materials is different and might break after a while. Also the edges might be a bit rough.

I guess it'll feel the same as playing Monopoly with Coins instead of meeples or printed money instead of the original.
Cluedo with beans instead of weapons. Ticket to Ride or Catan with warhammer figures...

You'd better rather going and printing the blocks in a 3d printer rather than buying fake.

Legoing, that's a new one for me. Quite catchy.
OegL or Laego should be the new name, lol

Lego is a fair point because the build quality of the bricks affects the build quality of whatever you build. Pieces may not fit together etc.

With this, and with some other games, if it works, the brand doesn't matter to me if the plastic pieces feel more plasticky than the official/branded plastic pieces

Suppose it's hard to judge if a fake is worth it without seeing it.

Each to their own though. I'd always just weigh up cost v risk.

Saw CELO the other day (or something similar) that actually had that in the studs so looked remarkably like LEGO until you looked closely

Then you know you're better on your own by buying a 3dprinter and do your own PnP (Print and Play).
Blokus happens to be similar to Lego, in that way, in Blockus you FIT pieces into a board, therefore if the construct is not good enough, you're just going up your theory. It'll affect the way you're experiencing the game.

If cost vs risk is the issue, do yourself a nice gift and buy a 3dprinter

Righto! I won't buy a £19.99 game, I'll save money by buying a cheap copy a 3D printer
I paid £20 for it a few months ago so having played it a fair bit I think it's worth it but no more, and definitely not the £34 RRP Amazon say. I didn't risk the cheaper eBay ones because I think they look worse than the Mattel one so for me £9 was worth it for me in case the others had sharp edges, cheap brittle plastic etc. (and might not be, might be fantastic quality). There's a used Mattel on eBay auction currently £7.60 inc postage.

The game used to be hailed as awesome by Dice Tower peeps. I rate it 'good but not great'. Pros: very simple (just 1 rule or 2 if you count the starting piece rule) and very short unless player(s) get analysis-paralysis, and the pieces are bright and well made. Cons: the board is a disappointing bland off-white colour (all over), the box is OTT packaging, and might not be suitable for people with colour blindness (?)

There's a tri/hex version for £15 on Amazon which might be better for those who play 3-player games more often than 4.

We have the 3d version and that's much better to be honest. Picked up for 2.50 in a charity shop with all components present and correct

Just looked that up, def looks better, and £2.50 is a bargain
This is one of my favourite games. I’m a maths teacher and I regularly run blockus tournaments. Great for developing spacial awareness.

I've always thought it looks such a good game, but only 2 players is no good for me - it would rarely get played. Stick it in yer suitcase of games for the Official HUKD 2020 Board Game Meetup haha! Actually I might even try to get to UKGE next year.

I seriously might as well. I know we mentioned it before so will have to arrange a meet up if we are both there
