One of the greatest military feats during the Second World War was the transformation of the German force's activities in the weeks following the battles in Holland and on the German border, where the Allies had finally inflicted the greatest catastrophes of modern war on them.

Somehow the Germans found the strength to halt the Allied advance in its tracks and to prolong the war to 1945. Armageddon by Max Hastings is the epic story of those last eight months of the war in northern Europe.

Better authors out there. He's a daily mail fan boy, so tend to avoid his books.
I'd also recommend his recent book on the Vietnam war, and his older book on the Korean war.
Purchased thanks. Read a few of his and found them to be excellent overall.

His political views have zero reflection on his quality as a researcher and writer. I'm not even sure it's accurate - he was editor of the Telegraph and Evening Standard, but I'm not aware of any connection to the Daily Mail.
His other WWII book All Hell Let Loose is amazing-better than this. But for 99p this is a no brainer....
Thanks for that.
I just bought it for 99p.
Looking forward to reading it.
Once again,thanks for that.
